Noticed a couple of days ago that the air con is playing up. For the first few miles it works ok then it starts blowing out hot air until the end of the journey. It is set to 16degrees with the dual setting. Anyone else had this issue Stellantis can’t book it in till late June and I am driving through Europe mid June.![]()
Sounds like it needs re-gasing.
I dont rate the A/C very good anyway, even set to the coldest its not as cold to other cars I’ve owned with A/C.
I might be wrong but I think it uses the R1234yf (or HFO-1234yf), which is far more expensive to replace and in my opinion doesnt perform as good as the older gas.
Yes, could be a leak as well. On the journey home yesterday it didn’t blow hot but definitely not 16 degrees more like 19-20. Being looked at on Tuesday.
I sometimes find if I leave the setting on say 16 with the A/C on and switch off the car when I go back in the morning it goes to the highest setting and starts blowing warm air , even though I left it on the cold setting.
I’ve never used pre-conditioning so I know its not that !
It seems the compressor loses efficiency as it warms up. It could be low gas or a malfunction. It’s hard to say. The compressor in the E-tense PHEV is electric. Drive it anywhere and have them check the system pressures. This can give you a lot of information. At idle, it should be 6-7 bar at an outside temperature of around +20°C. During operation, the correct HP pressure is 9-12 bar, and LP pressure is 2.0-2.5 bar.
