Coincidence or a possible Hybrid PHEV hack?

I was told by the technician that if Comfort mode is selected it will use the hybrid battery the same as if the car was in Hybrid mode.
Comfort is a combination of Hybrid & Comfort.
I think I read this in the manual as well ?

It is, just with a few extra bits thrown in, like softer suspension and ,I think, softer airflow inside the cabin?

28!!! The best I can get out of mine is 13 miles for 100% charge. For a supposed premium vehicle this is garbage, as is the 'active suspension system '. How do you know if it is working, as I cannot tell the difference between comfort and hybrid.

Like you I was sceptical regarding Comfort Mode, but after now owning the car fir a few months I think theres a subtle difference when the car is in Comfort Mode, it feels more smooth.

The courtesy car I have at the moment is a DS4 E Tense Performance Line, just like mine, except it doesn’t have Comfort Mode and it has smaller alloys, however the ride is noisier than mine by a long way, which surprised me, especially as it has smaller alloys with bigger profile tyres, mine has the 20 inch alloys with a smaller tyre profile, but its far quieter, even out of Comfort Mode ?

Just to add to the discussion my GOM is indicating 47 miles range :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I don’t understand how you guys do it.
I’ve never had the GOM over 40km (25 miles).

Me neither.
It must be something in how the car is used though .
When I first had the car last September it was showing 29 miles @ 100%, but over the course of the last 9 months it has dropped to 22 miles @ 100%.
It was a brand new car that had been sitting in storage unused.
I use the car for four days per week, doing the exact same low mileage on the exact same journey.

My son has a PHEV Vauxhall, being a Vauxhall it’s same size battery as my DS4 E Tense, both built on the same platform.
So he was seeing anything from 25 to 35 miles when he first had the car, he then started working from home, the GOM dropped to around 18 miles, but the would still run on electric for many miles @ 0% .
Over the last couple of months he’s been dong extra motorway mileage going back and fore his girlfriends house, his GOM has now increased to 37 miles.
The only difference in usage is extra mileage.

I’m currently driving an E Tense courtesy car, it’s showing 33 miles @ 100%, my guess as it’s a courtesy car it’s used daily doing all sorts of journeys so this is why the GOM is higher ?

I’m glad I haven’t got the further complications of an E-Tense; the ongoing problems of my Rivoli Puretech DS4 are bad enough. After 5 unsuccessful attempts by the Warranty Dealer to rectify, & an Open desk session, DS sending a technician to dealers on Wednesday 9th. Supplying dealer turned down my claim to reject the car. Totally fed up with car & DS.

Oh, & according to WBAC, the values has dropped almost a further 30% from when I purchased it in November, believing it had taken much of the depreciation as a ‘nearly new used’ car! Seems trade don’t want to know!

DS also sent a technician from their UK head quarters to check my car over, totally pointless exercise, still waiting for a “repair”.
Apparently I have to wait for DS to have a software update written then released ???
The case is still open with DS, I get email updates every few weeks apologising for the wait.
I do still have the option to give the car back even though I’ve had it almost 9 months.
They’ve also said if I keep it they will make a “Goodwill Gesture” but only after the repair has been carried out, and at that point they’ll take into account how long I had to wait.

When I asked around the 5 month mark, what this amount would be had the car been repaired at that stage, they said ÂŁ500, so we are now heading for 10 months and I guess it will be ÂŁ1000 at that point if no fix is found until then.
They’ve also already paid me £125 towards fuel costs as I argued the car car was not using hybrid as much as it should due to the engine running more often to charge the 12v batteries.
After that payment I was told to continue keeping all fuel receipts and supply them every few months whilst the case is still open.

Now, heres the real crazy bit.
As mentioned above, DS UK are still proceeding to find a “software repair”, for the keyless entry & welcome lights issues that I initially BELIEVED were faulty, but after doing much research, speaking with other DS4 E Tense owners, comparing my car to countless others at the dealership and with the help of the Master Technician at the dealership, it is now highly likely that these features are operating completely normal on my car.
The actual problem is how the manual explains the features, or should I say DOESNT EXPLAIN CLEARLY AT ALL.
Basically there was a change in how the features operate depending on build date.
My car was a late September 2023 build, (registered late 2024), the features work slightly different to build dates from early October 2023 onwards, the manual though only explains how the features operate for the later models.

Both myself, the Master Tech, and service department manager have all asked DS UK to just confirm this so that we can draw a line under this and close the case, yet DS UK are still pushing for a software fix for a fault that is highly unlikely to exist, and are going to pay me a “Goodwill Gesture” of £100 for every month that they cant find the fix, now thats customer service !!!

As for depreciation you are 100% right, it is diabolical.
When I first thought there might be an issue with the car and would have to wait for an software update to be written I asked the sales guy at the dealership what the car was worth if I decided to sell it privately, (this was just before they offered a rejection), his figure was around ÂŁ22000, I paid ÂŁ43000 for the car less than 3 months earlier.
Even now 9 months on it still only has 1700 miles on the clock, yet its probably only worth around half of what I paid for it.

DS…NEVER EVER AGAIN…

Thanks for that, I just hope he can rectify the original problem at least, I too have an intermittent fault with the Welcome feature & other things which the warranty dealer is aware of. They won’t give a time, or even which day he will look at my car, (seems he’s looking at another one whilst in Ipswich) & I’m unable to be there all the time, I find this very frustrating. DS Customer Care haven’t offered me anything, as I’ve said the supplying dealer, EH Cardiff don’t want to know, “it’s under warranty” was their standard answer.

Whats the issue with your welcome lights ?
Mine were only intermittently coming on when approaching the car same as the auto locks, they were only unlocking intermittently.
There could be a number of reasons though why these features do not work each time, it may not be a fault.
Low 12v battery combined with low mileage, unlocking too many times without opening the doors , unlocking and opening the doors too many times but not starting the engine, key fob left within 7 mtrs of the whilst it’s locked, low battery in the fob, camera in the screen not detecting you as you approach.
You’ll be surprised what the service department can come up with.
But having said that, many of these reasons are actually stated in the handbook.

So I’ve been toying around with re-setting the trip computer just before charging the car , the predicted milage has now gone from 22 miles, which it has shown for months, to 31 miles on 100% charge.
Theres been no change in overall actual mileage or a change of journeys types, it’s still my usual 4 days of usage doing the exact same journey.
However, I have run the car on 100% electric down to 0% and then done a full charge.
First time the predicated went from 22 to 26, and then 26 to 31.
My thoughts are it’s more likely to be the later rather than the resetting f the trip computer ?

I agree, I know modern batteries don’t have a memory like the original phone batteries did, but the algorithms behind the GOM, are not as clever as the manufacturers let you think.
Well, I glad you a member of the 30+ club.:raising_hands:
