DS3 Prolems

Found my DS3 on market place, the seller did state that the stop/go was problematic. We agreed terms, money exchanged, feeling happy I drove the 30ish miles home.No problem.
Next morning, started my new car, moved off, then it stopped.restarted the car, moved off, drove 100
Metres or so, moving slowly the car felt that it choked itself. Or like driving in the wrong gear, did this several times before I just went heavy on the gas and the whole thing shot down the road like a missile. To keep moving in traffic I had to slip the clutch, rev the engine to stop it the hesitation then stalling.
Once the car reached normal operating temperature, no problems what so ever.
Any ideas anyone? …many thanks

Fuel starvation at tick over ?
Fuel injector issue ?

Automatic choke issue ?

Did the seller mean the stop/start feature, or that the car stops and goes erratically , ie stop/go ?

Hi Jactac
Thanks for getting in touch. Yes I took it for granted the seller meant the stop/start features but no she meant it stops then go. Meaning the car chokes then dies, slipping the clutch seems to over come the problem, but once it’s at running temp, no problem at all.
Today it happened again but where I live there’s alot of slow moving traffic before you can put your foot eye to an eye watering 40 mph, so got a cheap one reader and 3 fault codes came up, p0444, p0037 and p0031.
Evaporative emission system valve, last two numbers are up/down stream O2 sensor.
But which caused the fault?
Done the usual, checked fuses, seems ok, cleaned the evac value, cleaned throttle body, but the engine fault repair requires displays once, start engine, doesn’t reappear. Leave the engine to cool and the ’ fault 'message rears it’s ugly head.

Check all the fuses near the engine, especially number 10. If they are fine, check whether the lambda sensors have been replaced with cheap aftermarket ones.
I assume you’re referring to the 130 hp 1.2 engine.

Hi Andrew
Yes you are correct my vehicle is the 1.2 2014 model.
I have tested the emissions purge valve and I think it’s faulty. Removed tube towards fuel tank, let the vehicle idle for about 15 minutes and checked to see if there’s any vacuum from the purge valve. Nothing next I applied 12v to the purge valve again nothing. So hopefully that’s the problem. Only would that cause the 2 x fault codes for the O2 sensor to show?

That is a possibility. But since the valve is damaged, you need to start with that.

My DS4 E Tense has just had the downstream sensor replaced .
It’s done just over 4900 miles from new.

Hi Andrew
Oh yes was quoted over £300 for a pair of O2 sensors, then the fun of fitting them.
Thanks for the reply

Hi Jactac
Ouch!

So, replace the emissions purge valve since it’s faulty, and test it. It’s a cheaper and simpler repair.

That’s the plan thanks
