Hi, I have recently bought DS7 2018 2.0 with Opera trim and I am wondering if my car came with alarm or not. When I lock it, I don’t see blinking red light anywhere nor do I see any alarm button for activating/deactivating it inside the car. In car documentation it says that there should be a button for this but I don’t have kne, does that mean that my car doesn’t have alarm at all?
I have the DS4 2023 and had the same alarm query.
It took me a while to work out f it had an alarm or not.
Heres how mine works.
If you walk away from the car without pressing lock on the fob, the car locks itself and gives two beeps, at this point the car is only locked, the alarm is NOT activated, the two beeps are only to inform you that the car is locked.
To set the alarm you need to use the remote to lock the car, it then gives the same two beeps but also flashes the indicators.
Try locking the car with and without the remote, leave a window open, wait 45 seconds and lean into the car.
With my car the alarm only sounds if it was locked with the remote fob.
The dealership service department also confirmed this is how the alarm works.
The manual isnt very clear.
Personally I think the two beeps that sound when only locking the car is a bit misleading, as it makes you think the alarm is set.
My wifes Renault Capture is the same.

Thanks for the answer! I will try it out when I get a chance and if it does work like that I will mark your response as solution so others with same question can find it. Usually cars have blinking red light somewhere inside when alarm is armed. I always lock my car with key fob but it happens that my wife or kids think that the fob is close enough to car for passive unlocking and start pulling like crazy on doors and alarm never activates. Never thought of leaving window open and trying it out that way though.
Also one note, on my DS7 I don’t have beeps when car is locked, it only moves side mirrors inwards and that’s it.
Theres a possibility your car isn’t alarmed ?
My wifes Captur gives off two beeps, but it has no alarm.
I think unless you see the indicators flash there might be no alarm.
As mentioned, to set the alarm I have to use the fob to lock the car, my car is a late 2023 model, I think its a September 2023 build, but DS changed the alarm procedure October 2023 onwards, after this date it will set the alarm when walking away from the car without using the fob.
I just missed the updated version, hence needing the fob to set the alarm.
Mine also has an alarm on/off switch in the car, its up by the interior lights above the rear mirror.
This switch only turns off the interior sensor, the alarm will sound if the car is tilted, such as being towed.
There are two red blinking LED’s when the car is locked.
One is on the drivers door but this only flashes to show the car is either locked or deadlocked. the other is up by the on/off switch.
If its solid the alarm is off, if it flashes the alarm is activated.
Both oif these LED’s are small, hard to seer and not a great deterrent.
Easiest way to check, is to lock the car with your fob, look to see if the indicators flash, leave a window open, lean in after 45 sec’s your alarm should sound ?
