Engine block cracks?

I have a ds7 crossback 1.6thp 225bhp 2019 55k, changed auxiliary belt today because of high pitch squeal after revs drop to tick over after starting, quick rev and it goes. Turns out not that still does it. Think now water pump tensioner friction pulley. BUT this is not for that.

It is for what ever these appear to be in these images. Don’t like the look of these. Any thoughts anyone.

Replace the valve cover because the engine breather is whistling. A known issue. OE no 9818425480.

This is often what aluminum looks like after being removed from the mold. It is purely a matter of aesthetics.

Hi thanks for the replies, is there not a separate, I guess pcv valve which can be changed, I’ve seen this on some vehicles. A diaphragm ruptures, didn’t know this until looking at it after your reply.

Don’t want to change more than i have too.

Why do you think whistle goes with a rev of the engine. Would it not continue. Not doubting your knowledge but learning for myself. I do all my own work and this is something new. Like dephasers on my partners peugeot 208 with the dreaded wet belt

Thanks in advance kind sir

Jason

Such parts exist, but it isn’t always possible to do it properly that way.

Just about to post back that after your advice i thought surely not the whole top needs replacing, and found and ordered exactly that, but annoyingly for £21 was cheapest i could find. Can get a while top cam cover for £55.
I did remove my pcv and found the orange diaphragm had a split. Super glued it just to see what would happen. Whistle stopped. Never world i have thought that would do that. Didn’t even know until you highlighted what it could be. Still ordered one but for now it stopped. I’ve known alternator to whistle like that, could’ve been a next step. Also the water pump pulley is a strange setup too. Why do they make things so complex.
Next job after noticing rear left tyre worn badly on the inside and noise coming from suspension on that corner will be new shocks.

For this engine version fits only 9818425480 and it’s more like £130 sometimes even 200-210. The ones for the older 1.6 THP engines are cheaper, whereas those for the 1.6 PureTech are more expensive.

Hi, i had the same issue. Ordered and replaced de valve and problem solved. Thnx for the info.
