Hello, new (to me) DS4 owner here, bought myself a 2023 Performance Line+.
I’m interested to know if there are any watch outs for a new owner of a second hand vehicle to look out for. Both rear door handles are broken (common issue I’ve read here and are being replaced under the last month of the manufacture warranty).
Any other things to look out for? 48,000 miles on the clock.
I do have a question for the dealership when I go there about a flashing oil light after parking on a slight incline which seems strange, oil level is fine. That sound familiar to anyone?
I have the same model and year.
Is yours the E Tense ?
As mentioned the handles do play up, all 4 on my car have been changed under warranty.
I’ve also needed 5 replacement 12v batteries under warranty.
When the 12v battery starts to fail it can throw up some issues.
Best to keep the charge up on the batteries up, take the car on nice long journeys or perhaps carry out a trickle charge every so often…
I’ve also had issues with the proximity welcome lights and locks not always working, but again I think the 12v batteries might have had something to do with that.
Auto main beam is a bit hit & miss.
Not had anything with the oil light flashing !
Radio can lose saved stations, it’s happened to me twice in 18 months.
I have the 1.2 Petrol (much quicker engine than I expected when I test drive). Funnily enough it’s with the dealership today to look at the door handles and I mentioned the oil light. They confirmed that it does happen from time to time that when parked (or sometimes driven) on an incline the oil sensor can get an incorrect reading on the oil level. They said it wasn’t anything to worry about and is considered normal. Never something I’ve experienced in a car before though.
Thankfully haven’t had any of the issues you’ve listed (yet!) but I’m glad it’s getting a general inspection at a dealership as I bought from a car supermarket who were fairly awful to deal with.
Thanks for your reply, I’m looking forward to enjoying the car!
Most priority for the 1.2 Puretech is condition of timing belt and oil quality. PSA B71-2290 or PSA B71-2297 ( depends on country and the country’s temperature values) is only 2 specifications for a healthy timing belt for your engine. The thing is; timing belt has a short lasting life because its running in the engine oil. So checking it regularly is highly recommended by garages. You can find so many informations about 1.2 Puretech’s online. Its not problematic but needs regular attention.
Thank you, if you know when the timing belt needs to be changed, that’d be useful to know. Past cars I’ve owned have been 6 years or 60k miles, but I expect this Puretech might be sooner? Appreciate the info, thank you.
The belt should be checked every time the engine oil is changed. Every two oil changes, the lower oil pan should be removed to clean it and the oil pump filter.
Make sure they fit them in straight.
When mine were changed I took the car back because one or two of them, were fitted at a slight angle.
They were only out by a small amount but it was enough to notice the gap was’nt equal all the way round.
I’m a bit OTT when it comes to my cars but if the handle was straight coming off it should be straight going back on.
It really depends on condition of the belt. If it has cracks or small peelings from the belt means replacement is required as soon as possible. Those belts can easily wear out in a few thousand miles if correct oil haven’t been used. Like Andrew said, rubber crumbles would get stuck at the oil pump filter and cause damage. Thats why cleaning is needed if belt got damage by time.
Yes and yes. New N⁰4 's 1.2 petrol with mild hybrid has a chain just like 1.6 puretech. Stellantis stopped selling cars with 1.2 puretech and replacing them with 1.2 mild hybrids most of the European market this year.
I assume this would have been dealership price? My last car was an Audi A6 Avant and my cambelt change was £750, but at an VAG independent garage. I’m expecting to pay nearer £1,000 at a DS/Peugeot dealership. Ouch.
When my car is having it’s rear door handles replaced I’ll make an enquiry about the price of a cambelt change. I assume they also change the oil and filter at the same time given it’s a wetbelt system.
