Warning Lights Galore!

I so love the look and drive of my 2023 DS7 e-Tense Opera 4x4, but it is now really testing my patience to the point where I think I may have to get rid of it- feels like it just forever spends its time in and out of the garage (to be fair, our local DS dealer in Hemel has been amazing trying to help and support).

Last week, whilst on the motorway, every possible warning light came on, along with 7 fault warnings. Called the RAC out, who plugged it in and unravelled a whole host of errors. Literally all safety features had been disabled and were throwing up errors. Frustatingly they would not recover the car to DS because it still drove, but also noted that i must not drive on a motorway. Tried to argue that if it’s not safe to drive on a motorway, it’s not safe to drive full stop, but still refused to rescue the car (this was logged through DS Assistance). Take a look at this lengthy diagnostic report RAC shared; it’s pretty impressive!!

Comment from patrol

Please note any diagnosis made by our patrols is a suspected diagnosis and therefore should be verified by your repairing garage prior to any work being completed, or parts being ordered (if applicable)

  • roa various warning messages on dash abs, esp, traction control ect
  • attended vehicle
  • read codes and several codes present for communications faults between the ecus
  • called tech desk and they advised the central computer on the can network (gateway for coms) has likely become corrupted and so different systems are unable to communicate with each other but are working as it still drives - test drove
  • there is a fault on the system so the car will have deactivated the driver assistance systems, drive to the dealer as you would an old vehicle that does not have abs, esp, lane assist front assist and so on, leave extra stopping distance and brake slowly, drive their via back roads do not join the motorway

I suspect you have a single fault affecting the driver assistance systems. It is likely the rear electric drive unit. The other error codes (temporary ones) are just junk that only creates confusion.

I agree with Andrew.

1 culprit throwing up many faults.
Is the car under warranty ?

Yeah, hoping that its just one thing sending it into a fit. Certainly glad its on an extended warranty, especially if it is the rear electric drive unit! Stilll no news yet

Can I ask what the cost is to extend the warranty ?

I bought the car through a DS dealership so came with a 2 year DS warranty, so in theory covers me for the extra year and a bit beyond the standard 3 year manufacturer warranty

I’ve just had a quote off DS to extend a warranty on my DS4 E Tense, it’s £39 per month.

I’ve still got 12 months left on the warranty so I was just wondering what the cost is to extend.

You can get cheaper online warranties but I know a few owners who have had issues when claiming

In fairness, with how temperamental these Etense models are, it might be worth it if you’re going to hold onto it.

@Jactac FYI, when I bought my DS4 it only had a couple of months of the original warranty left. The dealer provided a one year warranty with the car, but I paid extra for a further two years £685, so about £29pm. I am pretty sure it is a full DS extended warranty as it was from a DS dealership.

You can go onto the DS website and chose extra warranty options from there.

Looking like it maybe 12v battery issue, so not covered under extended warranty :frowning: Garage are replacing, as they can’t rule out any other issues until the battery is replaced.

Made me reflect on the car, and as much as i love it, I just don’t have the confidence its not going to become a money pit and the used values continue to drop like a stone. Therefore, ive taken the decision to get rid and go full electric with a vw id7 tourer gtx plus

Same here,
No confidence at all in my DS4 E Tense.

If I sell now I would lose around £26000 in just 2 years.
Paid £46000 now worth £20000 at a push.

I bought mine 18 months ago for 29k and reckon I’m going to be lucky if i get £19k (its a 2023 model), so not as bad as yours, but still pretty rubbish. I think the launch of all the new ds models along with very slow sales are massively impacting (and do people want a hybrid now with the low range and upcoming pence per mile tax which will effectively double tax on petrol and electric use)

@Rjb1979 Sorry to hear about your DS7 and never fun having to go back and forth with issues! Unfortunately over the years one thing Citroën/DS/Peugeot/Stellantis just can’t seem to do is improve their reliability!

The VW should definitely be more reliable but shame about getting rid as I think the DS7 offers so much more character and style.

I say that as mines due back to the garage again next week. After having a new steering rack and PCV valve and rocker cover, I believe the technicans haven’t fitted something back properly as the car has no power and the turbo isn’t kicking in when in petrol mode. The drive to and from Birmingham airport was fun to say the least.

Hopefully you’ll get a good deal on yours come trade in
