I’m from France, and a new DS N°4 owner and I have a question about the welcome lighting.
On my car, when I unlock it with the remote, the front headlights come on for approximately 5 seconds and then switch off.
What I find strange is that this happens both during the day and at night. The lighting controls are set to AUTO and the welcome lighting function is enabled in the vehicle settings.
On my previous Peugeot 208, the headlights would only come on when unlocking the car in low-light conditions, which seemed more logical.
According to the N°4 handbook, the welcome lighting should operate when the ambient light level is low, and the duration should apparently be configurable.
Has anyone else noticed this behaviour on their N°4?
Do your headlights also come on when unlocking during the daytime?
How long do they stay on?
Is there a specific setting I may have missed?
Is the ~5-second duration normal, or should it remain on longer?
I’d be interested to know how other N°4s behave, especially on recent cars/software versions.
Welcome @DSN4
To start with, turn off the light animation, and the behavior will likely match your description. You might be confusing the light animation with the welcome/leave-home lighting mode.
I haven’t tested it yet, as I’m waiting until it gets dark tonight.
If I understand correctly, disabling the Style Animation should restore the normal 30-second welcome lighting when unlocking the car?
If that is indeed the case, I find it rather strange that the Style Animation and the welcome lighting cannot work together.
The Style Animation is actually quite nice, with the various light effects when approaching the car. It would seem logical to me that the animation could play first and then remain illuminated for the normal welcome-lighting duration while you walk towards the car.
Has anyone tested this with Style Animation switched off? Does the welcome lighting then remain on for around 30 seconds?
I have option “Coming home” but not “living home”… Living home is set at 60s… In my old Peugeot 208 P21 with NAC, I had "coming home " and “living home”…
OK I jus’t tried. With Style animation disabled, when I open the car, no headlight or animation at all turned on. The light with DS logo under mirrors jus’t turned ON for less than 2s.
The energy saving mode in not active in the car…
Il I enable style animation, the car turn on the headlight, for less than 5s, but it “work”…
Yes, the DS4 only has “coming home” lighting—meaning it activates after the ignition is turned off. When you approach the car, the lights won’t turn on if the animation is disabled.
Hi, no I don’t have, and I didn’t test ! I need to try this evening to see !
Edit : You’re right, it’s very logical, typical Stellantis engineering
It play Welcome animation, but only for 3s, exactly same as when I open the car by night. It’s sad, the projecters under the mirror with DS logo only stay ON for less than 2 seconds, and they don,t have time to project logo on the ground, I don’t understand why there is no duration setting to configure …
It’s one of the only “bad things” I show on this car. However, I’m pretty sure you could adjust or add setting with Diagbox, like others 308 etc… What a pitty on a so beautiful car, and in 2026 !
