4G Connectivity falling to 2G

Hello to everyone on the forum,
I own a 2024 DS4 E-Tense. Over the past 15 days, I have been experiencing an issue with the vehicle’s mobile network connectivity, which in turn affects all of my connected services.
The connectivity icon displayed on the central infotainment screen constantly shows 2G instead of 4G, which it used to be displayed previously. With a 2G connection the vehicle practically appears to be permanently offline. As a result, I am unable to send commands to the car via the MyDS application, and navigation system data such as traffic information, fuel prices, etc., are not being updated. The SatNav app is also reporting that there is no internet connection.
Has anyone else encountered a similar issue?

My sat nav lost all speed cameras, and map info last week during an update, 4g connection also lost.

My son has a Vauxhall PHEV, which I believe uses the same system as DS, his did exactly the same thing as mine on the on the same day .

All the connected services had disappeared from the car and it said on the screen to contact DS to Re-Subscribe.
The sat nav said something like “No updates available for this device”.
There was nothing showing on any maps, such as speed cameras, garages, charging points ect ect.

I rang DS connected services on the day to see what was going on, they said it might be the system got corrupted during an update and to solve it the car would need to go into a dealership to have a “forced update”.

However, a few hours after parking the car and checking again it was all there again and the maps had updated.
My son rang me that evening and told about his car, which had the exact same issues, but like mine it had also resolved itself.

In this case, there were problems with the Stellantis servers. The devices in the car had nothing to do with it.
The same thing happened with the My_DS app on phones.
After a few hours, communication was restored.

Thats what my son seemed to think.

It’s weird that a server side problem affected your 4G connection.
In my case though, the 4G stays off for the last days and only 2G is shown on the relevant icon on the main infotainment screen. In some rare occasions it came back for a brief period (some seconds) during my driving time. I assume that I was very close to a cell tower.

Today I turned off BT in my phone and watched the info on the IVI screen. It was always 4G.

I think that most probably is a problem related to my system because I don’t think that it would be a server side issue lasting so many days.
It will be checked by the service soon.

Hello,

It seems that a couple months now the infotainment screen shows only 2G connection (Greece) to me as well (2023 model). I can no more send remote commands through the app. Although I contacted the dealership in person today as part of the annual service maintenance, they told me that there is nothing they can do and they vaguely mentioned that there are other affected vehicles as well. We should all wait for stellantis to fix the issue. How are they supposed to fix that? At the same time how are we supposed to recieve any future update with only 2G network? Only by connecting the vehicle to wifi from time to time? To sum up, they didn’t convince me, as they didn’t seem to thoroughly know the issue or take it seriously.
Do you have any updates on your side?

Hi Gianni,
I had the same discussion with the service team and we also opened a support ticket to get an official response from DS France. The issue seems to be related to the network provider (Vodafone in Greece). Apparently, since they shut down 3G support at the beginning of the year, some eSIMs have been affected.
Both Vodafone and DS are aware of the problem and told me they’re actively working on a solution.
And just to end on a positive note — my 4G connection started working properly again as of last Friday. I didn’t do anything, it just came back on its own. So I guess it’s just a matter of time before yours is fixed too.

Tech guys at my local DS dealership told me that if & when 4G closes completely in the UK you wont get updates in the car.

Hello again,

Let’s hope @Panagiotis_Nerantzis that mine is going to get fixed on its own soon. In any case I also opened an email case with ds support, providing as much information as possible (including the vin number of the vehicle). I will keep you updated as soon as I get a response.
Regarding the 4G network support, it seems @Jactac that it will be available for many more years, co-existing with 5G in many countries. It doesn’t seem to be of a issue for the time being.

Hopefully all will be good for the time being…
Cant see me still having this car past another year or so anyway, I’ve already lost confidence in it.
Nice looking car but that doesnt make up for poor quality.

Hello everyone,

I got a call from the ds customer support yesterday. They said that the issue is known and an update is coming in April. They didn’t want to promise that this is for sure. I asked for an email response (still got nothing), even though my call was recorded from thei side.

Hi Gianni,

Was the call you received from the Greek customer service team or from the French one?

Also, was the support email you sent addressed to the Greek distributor or to the French support team? I am asking because I remember that, on one occasion when I was trying to contact the mother company directly, I could not find any way to reach the French support team. In the end, I found an email address and sent a message, but they replied that I had to contact the Greek distributor instead.

It was regarding a similar issue, where the connected map services had stopped working and the maps were no longer displaying live traffic data or fuel prices

I was told a similar thing by DS Technical UK that an update was imminent to solve battery issues, that was 12 months ago.
So don’t hold your breath waiting for this update.
