Ambient light issue

Dear fellow DS drivers: is there any way to check the equipment of my 2021 DS7 E-Tense Opera? I can’t find the option to change the colour of ambient light and the trim on the door handle (black shiny plastic) doesn’t light up. According to older brochures, the Opera line should have an ambient lighting with different colour options. I’m baffled and would appreciate any help.

I remember seeing the colour option on the menus about a year ago before I updated the firmware. Forgot about it until recently but now I’m wondering if I’ve simply imagined seeing it.

I had the same issue when I got the car and I had a feeling I actually had a photo of the Setting just because it was tricky to find.
And I did.
I think it is Car settings → Comfort → Mood lighting. Set it to On and change the color by pressing the gear symbol.

I’ve checked those settings, but only option there is the light intensity level. Only the small white lights around door handles and center console light up.

Sport mode only changes the colour of the speedometer.

I’mma check mine when I leave work in a few hours.

Follow the manual (page 51):
Select “DS SENSORIAL DRIVE”…
Personalising an ambience
► Select the ambience to activate it.
► Press on “Settings” to display the settings
page for the ambience.
► Select a system for which you wish to modify
the settings.
► After making the modifications, press any
area of the screen outside the system settings
window to return to the ambience settings page.
► After making all the desired setting
modifications, press on “Save settings”.
The modifications are immediately taken into
account.

I don’t have sensorial drive but I still have the ambilights in the door handles.
So there might be other sections in the manual too, depending on what system OP has.

Mine is under “Customisation”, theres a few different colour options.

I don’t have sensorial drive either, I think E-Tense Hybrid does not come with that feature.

I read earlier on this forum that there are different ambient light types. I was under the impression that if the door handles are glossy acrylic, there should be some sort of ambient light with the diamond pattern. Is the pattern visible on naked eye or with a flaslight? I’d just want to make sure if my car even has those lights installed.

If there is no SensorialDrive, there should be something in the instrument panel / touch screen theme settings.

I couldn’t find anything else but the controls for screen light intensity and the mood light intensity.

The ambient lighting shows in the door panel where you pull the door closed, it also show’s on the dash , just to the left of the displays.
I’m talking about the DS4 E Tense.
Theres something like 8 different colours, with 3 levels of brightness I think.
You can set each driving mode to a different colour, ie: Sport = red, Comfort = green , Hybrid = blue ect ect.
You can also set different profiles for each driver, which includes ambient lighting.

The mood lighting is exactly what we’re talking about.
It has two settings if you click on the gear icon; intensity and color.
Unfortunately my system is no longer in English, but I’ll give you a simple translation:
Komfortbelysning = comfort lighting
Färgton = color
Intensitet = intensity
Temafärg = Theme color

..and this is what it controls:

When I press the gear icon next to mood lighting switch, it goes straight to the brightness intensity setting. Seems like I’m missing the option to change colour. I guess this confirms that the car simply doesn’t have the lighting installed in the first place?

Can anyone confirm if their car is similar to mine and has only the intensity setting for mood lighting? Feeling kinda stupid with this :slight_smile:

Oh, I had no idea you could have the mood lighting without the lighting. :sweat_smile:
So what does the intensity setting change in your car?

Only the tiny white light on the door handle. The difference is very minimal, not easy to spot.

I just feel like the issue is with the software, it seems like a glitch and is very frustrating. That also made me wonder if I have just imagined the whole option to change colour!

The DS4 comes with and without mood/ambient lighting. The DS7 may have the same feature.
