Are AGM batteries supported or should I stick to EFB?

Hello,
I recently got a second-hand 2020 DS7 2.0 BlueHDi with Start&Stop.
Start&Stop isn’t working most of the time and my battery tester says it’s health is only 45%, so I’m looking to get a fresh battery.
I can get an AGM battery for about the same price that the EFB battery it comes with…
Does someone know if the charging system will adapt to an AGM battery and take advantage of it?

All right, it seems that some diverging information got me confused, but according to Varta there’s no difference in charging both types of Start&Stop batteries.

There is no application in which an AGM isn’t a better option than any battery with free electrolyte.

Actually, after some more digging, I arrived at the conclusion that AGM isn’t the best option in our case.
Something that no one says about AGM is that they’re indeed great as long as you don’t expose them to high temperatures. That’s why most AGM batteries are installed in the trunk or inside the cabin with a vent hose to the outside, but if the battery stays in the engine compartment, then EFB is the best option as they endure higher temperatures better. It will last the same or more than the AGM and it’s cheaper.

For the same reason that in my country (Chile) PSA recommends a different spec for oils (higher temperatures), I will stick to the EFB as was the OEM I’m replacing.

Hey Mikey,

Thank you for detailed explanation above.
On the other hand, have you noticed any other irregularities (electrical gremlins) apart from start stop not being engaged / working?

Have your side mirrors dipped /tilted when put in reverse without any issues?
My battery is at approx 69% or lower health, and I have currently issue with side mirrors not tilting when put in reverse… manually moving them with joystick it works.

Thank you

I may say that I had to deactivate the dipped side mirrors function when reversing because they sink way too much for someone my size (190 cm tall). If left activated, I lose all rearview and look at the floor.
They can be activated/deactivated in the car menu of your screen along with many other perks.

Regarding other electrical gremlins, I did experience after a couple of days without using it that the main screen defaulted to French language. The clock and date was still right, so it was just that. I attributed it to some extreme measure of power saving… maybe.

Thank you,
I have also noticed (while it was working) that it is angling at such angle I am also looking too down to the floor, at times unusable.
But currently I am more annoyed why it is not working, not much if it is useful or not…
