What is the process for the auto lights function to work.
So my lights are always set to auto on the stalk.
The head lights do come on when the ambient lighting is dark enough.
But here’s the bit that throughs me.
This is what I see on the dash display when the lights are in auto on the stalk:
The DLR icon (or side lights).
The headlight icon(when they switch on depending on ambient lighting)
SOMETIMES I see the “AUTO” icon a the bottom o0f the dash display, either lit up in green, sometimes in grey, and then not at all even though auto is selected on the stalk ?
So my questions are is:
If auto is selected on the stalk why isnt the auto icon always present on the display ?
When it is present why does it turn from green to grey ?
When the auto icon is present would should the lights be doing, because I cant really see a change looking out at the lights whilst driving ?
However, I’ve not been driving on fully dark roads without any street lighting.
The “AUTO” text on the display has nothing to do with the “AUTO” switch. This is the high beam setting in the IVI menu. You have matrix headlights, and their operation only turns on automatically when in IVI are ON. They can also be working when someone is driving in the opposite direction. The corresponding high beam zones then turn off. The whole thing is controlled by a camera in the windshield. The “AUTO” button on the display is gray when the conditions aren’t met. This means the function is working but not activated and you’re driving with low beams. “AUTO” isn’t visible when the DLR is on.
Take a look at the manual. Everything is explained there.
So the Auto setting on the stalk has nothing to do with the main beam being automatically switching between low & high beam , this is activated by the being switched on in IVI settings ?
Yet I only see the auto icon being displayed on the dash when the stalk is set to auto ?
I’ve read the manual but the explanations are so long winded you tend to lose track of the process.
It’s just turning on the lights automatically after dusk and that’s it.
The second time the lights will automatically turn on, but during the day, is when it’s raining and the wipers are in AUTO mode and working. You don’t have to remember to turn the DLR lights to low beam.
Here’s what I’m trying to figure out as I’m not seeing anything really obvious with the lights when driving in the dark.
When should the main beam be auto switching between low & high beam as I’m not seeing this happen, does it depend on ambient surrounding light ?
What activates the “Auto” icon to appear on the dash, and what is it indicating, as it’s only visible sometimes, and when it is visible it can be green or grey.
I have everything switch to on in IVI, but I cant really notice anything different when I drive in the dark ?
