Backup battery?

Hi all, would anyone know if my 2021 ds7 crossback 1.6 puretech 180 has a backup battery? The stop start flashes 3 times but has never worked. Everything electrical appears good, starts fine, lights bright, heated seats/massage etc all powerful. The complicated manual online is not specific, I read that the sos and Ds buttons rely on a backup but do I have one? The stop start i’m not too bothered as I know the car settings can overrule it but the 3 flashes make me wonder. Thanks.

I understand its only PHEV / E tense versions that have additional batteries.
Normal petrol / diesel engines will just have the single 12v battery under the bonnet.
I am sure someone will correct this if I am mistaken…

The S/S flashing 3x is normal, unless your battery is brand new / very highly charged and a zillion parameters are met by the system, it will simply flash.

Mine is under 2 years old from new, and rarely works. To be honest, I am happier it doesn’t as its a pain in the *** with an automatic gearbox… The hesitation at times makes for a scary drive at junctions and roundabouts.

You could trickle charge your battery and that may make it work… just depends on the existing condition of battery, and all the conditions being met for it to work anyway.

I have never had a PSA/ Stellantis/ Citroën / DS vehicle where the SS has worked reliably
( unlike VW I used to drive for work).

In my view, S/S is one of the most useless bits of tech on a modern car, just to tick an emissions box for the EU , just as they removed the spare wheel, but are happy for your to pay extra if you want one. ( and if there is space in the car)
;o)

I agree , the owner manuals are terrible and cover every variation of model… So unless you know exactly what your specific vehicle has and hasn’t got, it’s hard work…

Worse now they are all on line and you only get a 4 or 5 page paper booklet, even when brand new.
I always get a printed version off an auction site, as I prefer a tactile paper manual than digital.

Yes, you have that tiny battery on your roof antennaand it’s used as a backup to maintain the OTA connection. It’s not to be confused with the 12V auxiliary battery, as this tiny OTA battery operates at 3.6V.

Thanks both for your replies. I had read the stop start isn’t good just as you mention about auto boxes, jerky etc, so like I say not bothered. I wont miss that 've never had too. Wondered if a faulty or expired aux battery was beginning to show with the stop start flashes indicating a coming problem. Your explanations are great. Where is the 3.6v battery anyways? Not going to fiddle just curious. I am at the moment trying to get the dealer to update the software to the most recent. They say its done during service but it hasn’t been. I’m sure there’ll be a charge.
