Hey, ive recently got a DS4 etnse hybrid. Ive noticed when i first charged it full i was yetting 23 miles, its then dropped to 22 now to 19 miles when the battery is 100%. Does anyone have any tips or information on how i could get more miles or if theres a problem, as its my first DS4 i just wondered if ive done or doing something wrong..
When the car is new, or has been stationary at a dealer for months, the system is reset and it uses no driving history for the estimation.
The numbers you have recently is the correct numbers, while the initial number is an ideal number hard coded from an empty history.
With that said, driving economically and use as little extra features (radio, ACC, seat heating) etc. will get your numbers up.
If you drive aggressively, use the air conditioning, and frequently accelerate and brake, this is what it looks like. Electric driving is a state of mind. If you want more range, slow down, anticipate traffic situations ahead, and gently tap the accelerator. Brake with regenerative energy. This will increase your range.
It’s not worth overworking the gearbox when it’s cold, as it can cause damage. The gearbox oil warms up after about 20-30 minutes of driving. For short trips around town, it will always be cold. Therefore, a relaxed drive is good for trouble-free operation.
I’ve posted on another thread how I increased the predicted electric range from 22 miles to 32 miles and it worked, (some may raise their eyebrows though).
A quick explanation.
Charge the battery full, run the car just in FULL ELECTRIC mode (sensibly) until it runs out completely, then recharge, do this for a few days (I did it for around 5 days).
Each time you recharge reset the trip counter BEFORE charging and BEFORE opening the door.
So pull up reset trip, charge battery.
I’m not sure if the resetting of the trip computer has any real bearing with this method but I just followed the advice given by a DS technician at my dealership.
My son who has a Vauxall PHEV also did the same method and saw an increase in his predicted mileage.
Remember though, the mileage you see is your predicted mileage, the harder you drive the less it will be, hense driving sensibly when pushing to increase the range by the above method, KEEP IT IN THE ECO range on the display.
As mentioned above some might not agree that this method does anything at all, but all I can only tell you is that I tried this after seeing a constantly disappointing low predicated range of between 18 and 22 miles, I was advised to try the method and it worked, first going from 22 to 28 miles , then 28 to 32 miles, its now around a constant 29 miles as the weather is getting a little colder after each charge.
I havent used the method since I saw the increase and the milage hasn’t dipped below 29 miles after a recharge, if it does start to drop I’ll try it again..
Obviously the more “features” you switch on will effect your predicted mileage, aircon, heaters, radio, rear demist ect ect.
