I have bought a 2020 DS7 crossback e-tense 300 in Nov’25. Vehicle is driven mainly on weekends with occasional business trips from Amsterdam to Rotterdam / Antwerp. On 14 dec’24,on the way back from my first long trip from Rotterdam, the car started with " Electric traction system fault: stop vehicle, see onboard documents." Since I was on the highway, i continued driving on the last lane. After a while, the car started giving a chain of failure alarms from engine to braking system etc…etc. and stalled. I managed to get on the curb before she stalled. The car had to be towed to the dealer who checked and was told that there was deterioration in the cabling leading to this fault. I was told it is rectified and wont happen again. After that the car was running fine on the occasional use till yesterday, same thing happened. It started with “Electric traction system fault” and later indicated fault with battery charging, activated energy conservation and the battery light was lit red. I concluded probably the service battery had failed or dropped below required voltage. I stopped the car for a few minutes, got out, locked and after few minutes unlocked and restarted. now no alarm. I started driving back home and after about 10 kms, again the dreaded chain of alarms and the car stalled. I thought she will need to be towed again and called the road assistance. Whilst waiting for them to come, i tried to restart the car and miraculously no alarms. The car drove perfectly all the way back home as if nothing ever happened. I am really out of my wits to understand whats going on and now have developed a kind of phobia that the car will stall anytime anywhere. Can anyone please guide me how do i go about dealing with this strange car behavior.
I had a similar experience also in December, but my car ran fine after a restart and it hasn’t happened since. I didn’t have all those fault lights though, just a slow stall.
Sounds like the dealer, who thought they’d fixed it, should take a look at it again.
There should be a repair warranty on a failed repair.
Me too, not long after I took ownership.
I pulled out of the drive, started to drive forward and within a few feet the car just slammed on the brakes, it wouldn’t go forward or backwards, there were no obstacles around but I had the same warning message you have seen.
The car was stuck in the middle of the road fow a few minutes, luckily we live in a small cul-de-sac so there was other other traffic, and I was only pulling off slowly, dread to think if the same thing happened at speed.
After a few minutes of switching the ignition on/off the car was ok, it hasnt happened since.
I can fully understand your concerns, I’m currently having lots of electronic issues, the dealership just dont know how to find a fix, they’ve tried numerous things, now they are saying it must be a software issue and have passed it onto DS IT departments, I’ve been told it could be many months before a software update could be released.
I’m seriously considering rejecting the car.
DS Customer Care informed me today they are prepared to offer a “goodwill gesture” but only AFTER the car is fixed (could be many months waiting for a software release), or my other other option is to go down the rejection route ?
Thanks DSJay,
Since the car doesn’t leave any tell-tale signs of the error, it is difficult for the dealer to see whats going on. They claim they have checked all possible aspects and couldn’t find any anomaly. Lets see how she behaves in the coming days.
What exactly do they mean by “goodwill gesture”?
Me too am having second thoughts about asking the dealer for a swap with something more reliable. Do let me know what develops finally in your case.
Well they havent actually said what the goodwill gesture will be, but I would have to wait until the car is fixed which could be months if at all ?
They have sent paperwork to my dealership to start the rejection process if thats the road I want to go down ?
If I’m honest I’m a bit surprised how laid back DS customer care are, they basically said wait for a fix and we’’ give a goodwill gesture or just reject the car !
