Diagnostic tool

I have a MY23 DS7 eTence 4x4 300 that has quite a large number of codes on the global scan, I’m also having an issue when transitioning from EV to ICE which I have to turn the car off and start again which normally clears the fault for a few days.

My question is What is the best scan tool for my model, I have gone through the fault codes and the main culprit is probably the crank sensor, DS want £180 to scan the car but cannot guarantee the fault will show which I know is true, if it doesn’t fail it shows no fault just an intermittent fault.

For the cost of a couple of scans and the time DS would keep the car with out finding anything I figured it was worth investing in a good code reader to monitor and log the problem when it happens, I can’t replicate the issue willy nilly so I would leave it connected at all times then I can go to DS with a live log of the problem.

Any suggestions gratefully received and I can post the global scan sheet up if required with the full 60 pages of codes :face_with_peeking_eye:

In this case, only the Actia cable and the Diagbox 9.150 software will show all the fault codes. No ELM327 device will read codes other than those related to the engine and, occasionally, the transmission.
As for having a tool permanently connected, that isn’t required for Diagbox/Actia, since you can retrieve the error history along with the mileage at which the faults occurred.

This is an Actia tool. Only the “Full Chip”, “Gold” versions are suitable for use. https://aliexpress.com/item/1005012898730965.html

You can run the Diagbox software on VMware. A complicated installation is not required in that case.

Thanks for the reply Andrew, I’ll look into ordering on today.

I did ask the technician at DS what he thought the problem was with the EV to ICE handover and he had no idea, I did have to chase to get the global code readouts but as it’s not my profession to understand and work on these cars I had to take his diagnosis of “wait until it breaks” as the only way.

You’ll need a reasonable laptop to install it on, mines on an old (VERY) 4GB Acer mediastation but it struggles.
Once you are up and running, looking at this site may help Code
