Digital Service Record

I’ve just got the Digital Service Record actived in my Connected Services - but what should that show ? Currently it shows some earlier Period Maintenance as “not performed”, even though the paper service history book shows all services done from when the car was new.

The car has not had a service whilst I have owned it (due in a month), so does the Digital Service Record only show services after I took ownership ?

It does looks like I can manually add services (as “declared maintenance”) into the app. Is that what you are supposed to do to get it up to date?

Thanks.

You have to ask you dealership to update the maintenance performed when they carry out a service or work on the car…

You can manually add it yourself but when a dealership updates it you’ll see a an official rosette type icon.

My dealership didnt know themselves how to do it , they had to contact DS UK for advice.

I dont think they can add “old” service records ?

Updating the service app is not something thats done automatically by a dealership, hence holding onto all paper copies of servicing ect.
I actually prefer the paper records.

To be honest I think the app is rubbish.
Like you I wanted everything on the app to be fully up to date and working but I soon found out it’s a poorly designed and poorly functional app.

None of my cars had previous and current inspections listed in the app. I entered them all manually. It might depend on the country and whether the previous owner (second-hand car) used the app. It’s hard to say how it works.

Thanks for the advice - all useful to know. Seems like the paper copies are still the “gold standard” for the service history.

Another thing to note is if you add something manually you can edit the entry if you add something that that is correct, mileage or date ect.
However, once a dealership has added info they cannot edit the entry if they add something with an error.

For instance, my dealership added my first service onto the app but instead of adding the current mileage at time of servicing they put the that milage when the car was next due for a service.
So the app thinks the car is due again for a service.
I contacted DS uk to see if this could be amended but apparently dealership entries cannot be amened.
Like I said earlier it’s a useless app.
I had 3 years of full Connected Services free when I bought the car new.
I will not be paying for any when they expire.

My son has theVauxhall app for his Astra, it works for smoother than the DS app.

I am lucky, I actually have a service record book, so when it gets serviced, the garage wet stamps it, and i just keep the receipts.
And, my ‘included’ “connected services” has now expired and I have not renewed it at £8.99 a month, so im not sure what effect that will have on the records.

A standard service inspection is not entered into the database. However, repairs, updates, and recalls performed at the dealership are recorded.

I have a standard service recorded on my connected services added by my dealership.
It was added by the dealership when the car went in for its first service last year.
It was a basic first year servi9ce, no repairs or anything else.
They also gave me a paper print out, which I always keep as written history of the car…

The dealership entry shows on the app with a rosette stamp under the “Maintenance Performed” tab.

Obviously the guys in DS Warsaw have no clue how to activate, they just said “sometimes it works” they are just not sure how to do this

My dealership was the same but I kept onto them.
They were saying that they dont have access to the app but DS customer care were saying they do .
After a couple of days the dealership updated the app showing the recent service that they had carried out.
Thats when I saw the dealership rosette next to the service record, its a bit like a digital dealership stamp I guess.

To be honest though, I dont bother with the app anymore, it’s just to clichy and slow.

So how is this supposed to work with newer models which don’t come with a service book, especially when they change hands?

I bought a 3 year old DS4 from a main dealer in January, advertised as having full service history. When I picked it up there was no documentation, they said it was all on the app.

I’ve never been able to access this through the app, there is just nothing on there other than what should have been done. But the dealer just keeps saying it’s on the app and have now stopped responding to me at all.

Sounds like it’s a common issue - but doesn’t that leave a whole generation of vehicles with no service history?

Do newer models come without a service book? My 2022 DS4 has one. @Jactac’s car is newer (2025 I think), so will know. If the car was new from the dealer you bought it, they may have done the servicing, and in the absence of the service book I’d definitely be asking for copies of the services done, as that was part of what you bought. Otherwise direct to DS Customer care may be best.

Mine is a late 2023 model and it came with a service book.

I ALWAYS get paper copies of any work/servicing and have the book stamped.

Yes it would be nice to have a DS service book, but you could always get one of these and get the dealer to fill in the appropriate details then wet stamp it.

It doesn’t have to be what’s been done, just a record that someone in the future can confirm it has been done by contacting the dealer from information on the stamp who would then be able to trace the details through DS.
Blank service book

Strange there seems to be an inconsistency in when they stopped issuing service books - but regardless unless they can get the technology for the Digital service record right this will happen to more people.

I have already bought a blank service book to record future work done (DS branded ones are available too) - but unless DS can find a way to make the past service history available to me I will have a problem in terms of warranty and resale.

Ironically the dealer said they don’t pass on paper receipts for work done for “data protection” reasons - even though they were keen to have as much paperwork as possible on the DS5 I was trading in.

My understanding is a stamped book confirms that the service has been done (if by a main dealer to manufacturers schedule - not so with independents)

I understand the privacy argument as most receipts will have customer information ,Name, Address, bank details(?). But there is no reason why they shouldn’t give you a receipt of work carried out and parts fitted YOU have paid for.

I was lucky as my car was a demonstrator so the information was not so detailed. However , I do find it odd that they can’t give you a list of work carried out, even if it’s just a vague list of serviced at so many miles, any recalls completed, etc.
