Driver door handle

After 2 months of Drivers handle not working (flush fitting) and pre-booking for diagnostics and or replacement to the cost of £500, it all of a sudden started working again
Anyone else experienced this and the reason why ?

Rain water leaks in the mechansim and controller in the door handle unit, which makes the door handle unable to work. Inside might get dried out in time and it made the handle operational again. You can see one of the corroded door handle and DIY solution in that article. https://dsforums.net/t/sticky-door-handle/2900/54

I’ve had all 4 replaced under warranty.
They stick in,out or midday, it’s due to water ingress and DS are fully aware of the issue.
Unfortunately they (DS) are not doing a recall even though the issue is very common.

My dealership have changed so many they now have handles as a stock item instead of ordering them.
I was told by the dealership that it’s cheaper for DS to replace the handles under warranty for the cars that develop this problem rather than issue a recall for all DS models with these handles.

The link that Phoenixnite has added shows how to strip and fix the handle mechanisms as a DIY job, which I’ll try if any fail again when out of warranty.
There’s also a post on here somewhere showing how to remove the inner door panels.

Its good to do it early just when it start to fail. I was waiting 3 or 4 months before repair – now internals covered with corrosion too much, so its not possible to repair. Ordered new door handle, but I think when guaranty ends – just need to get all handles, cover all electronic parts with some water protection and also the whole door handle internals.

I agree, as soon as the warranty ends, the first time I seeing one starting to stick I’ll strip it all down myself and see if I can remedy it .
Nothing to lose if its broken anyway .
