Driving E Tense in hybrid mode with a cold engine?

Just wondering if anyone can offer some advice.

So I have the DS4 E Tense 225, only had it a couple of weeks.
Here is my question.
When starting the car first thing and then pulling off in hybrid mode, the engine is obviously not running and stone cold, so I usually drive around 3 miles before I hit the motorway (still in electric mode), as I build up speed on the motorway the engine then kicks in, but by this time I’m probably doing around 60mph, so my concern is that the engine which has now kicked in, is still cold because I’ve driven this far on electric power ! So my concern is that the cold engine kicks in and immediately goes up to around 1600rpm-2000rpm on a stone cold engine !
Surely this cant be good for the engine ?
I only work around 4 miles from my home so by the time I get to work the engine has barely had time to warm up !
Its the sudden starting of a cold engine and the revs going straight up that concerns me !
This is my first hybrid car so I’m not really sure how this works ?any tips appreciated.

There’s hardly any chance of damaging the engine at those revs.
You still have the electric motor taking a lot of the load even if the petrol engine has started.
But - If it was my car I would be more worried about condensation inside the engine as it only builds a small amount of heat during that short trip.
When I know that I will drive such short distance as yours I use sport mode (petrol and electric), pure electric or battery saver mode.
Either warm up petrol engine completely or not start it at all is my advice

I think your spot on . :+1:
I was thinking of using E save on this short journey, especially as the winter approaches.
I do very little mileage, always have.
My last car was bought from new, I had it over 9 years and sold it with less than 20000 miles on the clock.

Thanks for the tips :+1:
