Ds e-toggle

Does the gear selector have some security lock if you are driving and accidentally push selector from D to R, as I caught myself few times to push it down (fortunately to D) while I was changing drive modes?

I know that if you are maneuvering in low speed, in parking for example moving in R reverse you can select D drive and go forward without and restrictions, I hope this also doesn’t do some damage to the gearbox?

While driving you’re always able to shift to Neutral whenever you want, this won’t cause any damage. So if you move the gear selector without too much force, you’re always safe.
I’m carefully assuming that you’re protected from shifting to Reverse while driving because of this: if you are manoeuvring into a parking space for example and you’re switching between D and R, it usually lets you do this even when you’re moving slightly. But when you move just a little to much, it won’t go further than Neutral until you come to a full stop.

Thank you for the answer Xenonio, I guess it should be that way since in DS3, 7, 9 there is conventional “lock” side button on the gear shifter.
