Just received my 2022 DS4 E-tense performance line on Friday. Does this model have keyless entry, if it does it’s not working.
Car bought from Cinch and have 3 months warranty.
Bit of a grey area, well it is for me.
On paper my car E Tense DS4 Performance Plus has proximity keyless entry and welcome lights, in reality it’s very hit & miss if it works.
I bought the car brand new last September, I’m still waiting for a fix.
Its a late 2023 build but registered in 2024.
At first they said it was a simple software update required, which did nothing.
DS have already tried countless software updates, 3 new 12v batteries, (yep 3 new batteries in 9 months),new keys, and modulator.
They’ve even brought in the head of DS Technical to download data from the car and have it analysed over in France.
9 months on and still waiting !!!
Theres are a few genuine reason why the features might might switch off, low mileage, too many walking past the car but not actually opening the doors and driving away, keys left too close to the car after parking, DS advise storing the keys no less than 7 mtrs away from the parked car.
My car is actually back at the dealership as we speak, they suspect the 3rd new battery might e faulty again, they are waiting for advice from DS UK Technical it was only put on the car 2 weeks ago as part of the ongoing issues.
I’ve read on a few forums that theres been a fair number of owners who experienced very similar issues with the auto locking and also many with the 12v batteries not lasting very long.
Check these;
Do the indicators flash when you walk away ?
Does the car give two beeps when walking away ?
Do the two front DRL’s illuminate when approaching ?
Door handles should pop out when approaching and retract when walking away.
Check you’ve got it all switched on the vehicle settings.
All of that should be happening automatically.
If your indicators dont flash when you walk away or approach your alarm is not setting automatically.
If you hear two beeps it has NOTHING to do with the alarm, the beeps are only to say the doors are locked.
If you have to use the remote fob to lock the car and see the indicators flash, theres a good chance you dont have keyless locking/opening or auto welcome lights.
The cars manual does not explain very well how the features work.
The biggest problem with the manual is that it doesnt clearly state that these features changed how they work a couple of times from 2022 to 2024 .
The features were optional extra on some earlier models, then became standard on the performance line but operated differently from the 2023 model to the 2024 model of the same spec.
Try to find out what build date you car is.
If its early 2022 it may not have the features ?
if its a later 2022 it may have then but they dont work.
I’ve had a nightmare trying to get to the bottom of it and it’s still a grey area.

I was told by the sales guy that DS had to introduce changes to the specs early after releasing there model range as it was so confusing to the buyer and sales staff at dealerships.
Apparently, at one point between 2022 and early 2024 there were 14 different levels of specs and options just on the DS4 range, and to confuse things even more they (DS) changed their DS4 sales brochures midway through a build year, so you could have two cars exactly the same models in a showroom with same build year but different months, and they would differ in standard spec.
Customers were ordering new cars expecting certain features as standard, but when their car arrived those features were not there.
Yet another customer might order a new car which was already built and sitting in a compound for 6 months that had features the newer model didnt have.
Mine for instance is a E Tense Performance Plus 2023 late build, that came with 20 inch alloys, comfort pack, electric hands free auto boot, Comfort Driving Mode, Matrix LED headlights, keyless entry & welcome lights (when they work), heads up display, pearl black roof, (car is pearl white), all of which were already on the car, I didnt opt for any of these they were fitted by DS as standard..
There was another another one at the dealership, identical looking to mine, but was missing the keyless entry, comfort driving mode, heads up display and the hands free boot. Both were E Tense Performance Plus, both built 2023, but one was a late October build the other an early September.
Obviously I went for the one with the extra features.
So, try this to see if you have the alarm :
Do the indicators flash when locking with the remote ?
If yes, try leaving a window open, lock with the (with remote) wait 2 mins, lean into the car wave around a bit, see if the alarm sounds , if it does, just press unlock to stop it, if it doesn’t you don’t have he alarm either.
Check though that the alarm internal sensors are not switched off.
Up above your head by the interior light switches there a small button to switch the sensors on/off.
Did you check in the vehicle settings to see if keyless entry was activated, same with the DLR lights.

I’m on the same road! 2025 performance line purchased 5 weeks ago, dealer had it almost 3 of those and it has to go back because of the keyless system. Updates from the dealer would suggest DS neither have a fix nor are they learning from other vehicles.
So far i have had the software update, new keys, antenna and i believe the 12v battery controller though it could have been the battery itself. I get the further inconvenience that the key is also not detected when starting the car (requires the key against the steering column). What seems to upset the system most is the car unlocking/ re locking without a start and drive.
Could i ask, do you use the remote functions in myDs? I also had an activation problem with the app now resolved but the functions still don’t work with an error message the 12v battery could be low.
I quite often, (especially if i have unlocked/ locked the car without driving) get a message on the dash it is in economy mode and shutting down to save power. I suspect the fault is related and is caused by something not shutting down.
Absolutely 100% same as mine.
I also believe the techs at my dealership dont fully understand the system. After countless hours spent online and speaking with other DS owners I’ve had to explain to the techs a number things about how the locking system functions for the car.
You have to really study the manual , you’ll then notice that theres some confusion in how it sometimes explains how a feature works, or dont work.
One of the problems I find with the service department at my dealership is that they cover 5 different makes of car , so the techs are sent away on courses to learn but come back being a “jack of all trades, but a master of none” .
When I first had the car I used the MyDS APP, I soon found out that its useless.,
I’ve also seen the “Economy Mode” message and everything switches off, but not since they change the two 12v batteries, the main one and the smaller one under the armrest.
My car is still in because they are trying to find out why it might need yet another main 12v battery, when I was chatting with the “Master Technician” (LOL), he said the smaller 12v inside the car does not receive a charge from anywhere, it only get a charge during servicing from their equipment, theres no ther way of charging it ?
I think the main 12v battery was changed before i bought the car, I bought it as a pre reg and they believed the trickle charger may not have been connected while it was in ‘showroom mode’.
Just checked, it was the ‘battery electronic control board’ they replaced last. If the battery isn’t charged by the car I can’t imagine what the control board does!
Mine is about to go back again, I am pretending to myself if i can fully describe the symptoms/ patterns in advance they might actually approach it with a fix. The two day delay awaiting DS getting back to the master tech detracts from the premium experience.
I believe the salesman suggested there would be a recall in time for this fault, believing it was just a software update I took the car and later had it collected for a one day repair that lasted nearly 2 weeks. It did work correctly for a day!
I bought mine from Cinch.
Still got 6 days to hand back no questions asked.
After reading all this I might do that 
I was told 6 months ago that a software update would need to be “written” to solve the keyless entry & welcome lights issues.
DS have an ongoing case opened with my car to solve this.
I’ve fully explained the issues, had my car sitting next to another car of the same spec to show the differences and video’d the issues but they still cant find a fault but agree it’s not right.
They, tried, new keys, new batteries, new modulator and countless updates .
They then had a guy over from France to go through the car, he was the one who said there needs to be a software update written to solve the issue.
9 months on and still waiting.
As mentioned previously, the manuals can be a bit misleading as well.
If you look at the keyless entry and welcome lights section, it explains how these features work, however, it then goes on to say “depending on spec”, but what it should say is depending on build year.
So the reality is, you can have these features but “depending on spec” they can operate differently.
I’ve learned that DS changed how these features work on the early 2024 model but do not fully explain in the manuals the difference in how they work on the earlier builds.
For instance on the earlier builds (up to late 2023) you must use the key fob to lock the car if you want to activate the alarm, even though the car might have auto locking (keyless entry/exit), but on the newer builds the alarm activates itself automatically when the car locks itself.
My car locks itself when I walk away, folds the mirrors and gives to beeps, so the thought was the alarm was activated when hearing the two beeps, but actually all this does is to indicate that the doors have locked.
However, when I use the fob to lock the car all of the above still happens PLUS the indicators flash, its the indicators flashing that tells you the alarm is now activated.
The indicators flash automatically WITHOUT the fob on the later cars built from early 2024.
Again this is not fully explained in the manuals.
My son has a Vauxhall Astra 2023 PHEV, basically the same car as our DS, both built on the same platform by Stellantis, he also has these features on his car, the manual for his Vauxhall clearly & fully explains how the keyless entry, welcome lights and alarm functions, which is EXACTLY how they operate on my DS.
It’s like any DS with these features built up to early 2024 should have the instructions from the Vauxhall manual.
I’m surprised a 2025 build is not as per manual.
I’ve had a few later 2024 and 2025 DS 4’s as courtesy cars and they operate as per manual.
It’s the earlier builds up to early 2024 cars that operate differently.
Those features on your car sound like they operate exactly like my late 2023 model.
Was your car a 2025 build or a 2025 registered.
It makes a big difference.
My car was registered September 2024 but it’s actually a late 2023 build.
“NEW” cars can sometimes be sitting in compounds for up to 12 months, sometimes longer, waiting for a dealership to pull it from stock to sell onto a customer.
Ask your dealer to confirm the build date.
You can use this to confirm a build date, I had it off the dealership.
To confirm, use your chassis number 10th digit, which for my chassis number is the letter “P”.
That then is confirmed to be 2023 build.
Which can be found in this chart below.
By the code mine is a 24. I’m reasonably sure the indicators do flash with auto locking but I don’t know why i would be looking at the car while walking away.
I didn’t get a handbook, i presumed they don’t come with one. Reading the online version I understood the alarm didn’t activate with auto locking and did wonder if I was trying to get something to work I would not want to use anyway. It’s still debatable as I would prefer deadlocks too but wouldn’t expect that automatically.
Next time I use the car I’ll pay attention.

Thats because its a 24 build.
I think the confusion is the two beeps the car makes when it locks.
Owners, rightly believe the two beeps is the car locking and activating the alarm.
Its not until you learn more about the car or, if like me you come across an issue and you delve deeper that you find out whats really happening.
Just bought a 2023 plate 1.6 E-Tense Rivoli The front handles open and close the back ones I have to push to open and close them, is this correct or not?
Mine is a 2022 1.6 E-Tense Rivoli, and all four handles pop out on both proximity (key close to the car) or pressing the unlock button on key.
There may be some in vehicle setting that inhibits the door handles opening for rear (like childproof locking/opening). Look for something like “Selective Unlocking” - worth checking. There is also a physical switch on the edge of each rear door - search “manual child lock” in manual.
This only prevents the door from being opened from the inside. Nothing changes on the outside.
As Andy suggested, you can opt to have selective a door open , however I think you can only select to have the drivers door unlock, the hatchback or all doors.
I dont think you can only have the two front doors.
My opinion is your rear door handles are sticking rather than selected to not open automatically.
