Hi all, checking ovef my ds7 (1.6 puretech 180) last week, i found the coolant tank empty, the line i could see in the tank was a stain not the coolant level!. I topped it up with the correct mpm coolant, after this discovered a tiny leak on the lower small return pipe that goes into the tank and it was furred up around the clip fitting. Tried changing the o’ring, still the same, had new hose/fitting changed, again the same. Has anyone experienced this? Is it a common fault. The leak isnt a drip as such and may have been doing it since the car was new 5 years ago, and this ‘stain’ fooling anyone looking, I dont know. Any other ds models doing this? Any ideas what it could be? Thanks.
You need to check the fluid reservoir; it might have had a defect from the factory, or something might have cracked.
I’m going along with that Andrew thanks! I suppose it is the next step, and I read that stellantis cars do suffer from cracks on the spigots or uneven mouldings. Like I say, may have been like this from day one and the false stain showing a fluid line didn’t help. I have just now ordered a new expansion tank and will have it done by Friday, and I’ll let you know how it went! Cheers.
Does the level need to be checked when the engine is completely cold.
Yes, it has to be cold. I read that it will rise a bit when hot and the system is pressurised. The leak i have may be small but it adds up to a lot over time and it can only get worse and the coolant isn’t cheap.
I have the same issue on my 2022 DS7 180 puretech, the fluid level is low almost on the bottom. I should top it up and I assume up to the middle of the tank as I can’t see any markings Max or Min.
Would you recommend that I add distilled water or coolant?
Does anyone know what coolant exactly to add?
In the expansion bottle it is orange pink color.
I did not notice any leaking at all everything looks clean and new. Also there are no issues with engine temperatures… I do hope it is evaporation ![]()
Thanks to the community for help!
Hi Daria, the coolant level marker is hard to see, it is where the seam runs around the middle of the tank half way up. Only check when cold as a hot system can burn you when releasing the pressure/filler cap. I am adding an approved mpm coolant from Euro carparts ;- 523772512 MPM Coolant Premium Longlife -40°C CPC Ready to Use Citroën / Peugeot 1L It is about £10. You can get it in 5L too. Mine has a definite leak from i suspect a hairline crack, just waiting for a new tank. It is only there when hot and the coolant is being forced out. Check yours when hot around the hose fittings and tank spigots for any wet residue. You may be lucky and it could just be down to natural loss over time.
Thanks Dagman! I will do as you suggested and will take care!
