EAT8 problem during low speed

Hi everyone,

I’m driving a 2019 DS7 Crossback 2.0 HDi with the EAT8 automatic gearbox, and I’m experiencing some issues that I’d like to check if anyone else has had.

The gearbox is not working perfectly under acceleration. At low RPM and light throttle, especially during upshifts (e.g. 2→3, 3→4, 5→6, 6→7), I feel a slight shudder/vibration through the car.
It also sometimes happens during downshifts (e.g. 6→5 or 5→4) at low speed.
At very low speeds and low RPM, there is a kind of rattling sound, almost like a metal vibration.
When I press the accelerator more (higher load), everything becomes perfectly smooth.
There are no vibrations at idle.

Also, when I use Tiptronic to manually change gears and the RPM is over 2000, there is no problem.

Has anyone had a similar problem, and what could be the possible solution?

Thanks in advance!

What’s the car’s mileage?
The EAT8 sometimes has leaks in the hydraulic oil cooler. It might be worth checking.

Engine mounts, gearbox mounts. Higher rpms less vibrations, so might be worth checking those.

Also, i presume gearbox oil has never been changed so that should be done anyhow. While doing it you will see verify how much oil was there actually, and are there any leaks, etc…

I’m experiencing the same on 2024 etense. It happens rarely, cannot reproduce it at will. I sent it to authorised dealership, they couldn’t detect any failure. My bet, they haven’t really bothered. Have you figured it out?

I replaced the gearbox.

under waranty? can you give more details, what happened?

Nope. My car is 2019. I had a crash, where this oild cooler was damaged. After the repair and 1000km of drive I started to feel this (it was never before). They did a test with some powder and the color was purple (it should be white or yellow if it’s negative). Guys from gearbox company said that the best solution is to find another one and to replace it. Yes, it was a bet, but thanks God, all it’s good for now. Already 20.000km with new gearbox.
