My 2024 DS4 E-Tense will not allow me to select Electric mode over the past two days. Works on Hybrid but RPM is at 800 while using electric. Any ideas before I book it in to Stellantis?
Hello AndyG,
Multiple factors might cause this, however inspection without Diagbox and OBD/VCI adapter may prove difficult.
- LVNSD1 or LVNSD2 modules, located directly on their respective car batteries (1 is under the hood, main car battery, 2 is in the trunk)
- Blown fuse on one of the above mentioned modules
- Low voltage on one of the car batteries
- Issues with DC Converter or AC inverter
Apart from Diagbox error check for further assumptions, the only thing I can suggest is trying to charge the car batteries in the rear and front.
Best regards
Thanks for your help
Mine does exactly the same.
Take the car for a nice long spin.
Then charge the hybrid battery to full.
Use just electric mode after charging, run the car on just electric until it runs out.
Recharge the hybrid battery see how it goes after doing the above.
The 800 rvs in hybrid is when the battery is supporting the petrol engine to reduce costs, but it wont allow full electric until you’ve took the car for a nice long trip.
As Groundforce says the 12v batteries might need a bit of charge, taking the car for a spin will surely help. The manual does say that full electric may not be available if the 12v auxiliary batteries are low.
As for manually charging, I’ve actually received an email today from DS UK advising NOT to do a manual trickle charge as it can confuse the system.
My car is on its 3rd 12v battery in 9 months, I’m not seeing any error messages and the car isnt flagging any errors when tested by the dealership, but I do very low mileage, so I thought using a trickle charger might be beneficial, but apparently not according to DS Technical UK..
So they are still investigating why the 12v batteries are depleting.
However, as for your issue, taking my car a nice trip definitely helped, with the “Electric Mode” not available.
I do on occasion see the revs tick over at 800rpm, but from what I’ve been told its a normal process of the hybrid battery helping out the petrol engine to save fuel, you’ll notice your predicted fuel consumption increasing when the car does this.
My son has a PHEV Vauxhall Astra, his does exactly the same, both DS & Vauxhall are built by Stellantis and run on the same platform.
This is from the DS dealership today.
"Good afternoon,
DS Technical have come back to us and advised for you to not use the trickle charger as the vehicle is designed to automatically manage and maintain the battery charge and range, the trickle charger can interfere with that system and may significantly reduce the battery’s state of health."
Thanks Jactac.
I had an idea the batteries might be the reason. Will do a decent run tomorrow and hopefully will be sorted. Will post result.![]()
