So this morning I noticed on my commute the eletric mode (when the dash is blue) wasn’t working but I could feel the electric motor working and the engine on idle permanently (my commute is 40 mins) if I try to put it on electric mode it comes up with electric mode currently unavailable due to ambient conditions.
Although I got to work switched off the engine and restarted it now electric mode is on…is this normal?
Could just be a glitch in the software.
I’ve had similar things happen but then disappear when the ignition is turned off and back on again.
So it sounds as though the car started in full electric which is correct as it defaults to full electric mode on start up it was driving in full electric mode but the system was telling you otherwise.
Did the display say electric mode or hybrid mode ?
It started up in hybrid, it usually starts in electric by default.
I couldn’t access electric mode.
If the outside temperature was below -5 degrees Celsius, this is normal. Another possibility is a weak 12V auxiliary battery in the trunk. Charge it and monitor it.
Ok I’ll check that battery…
Stupid question, you said it’s in the trunk, (boot for me) is it obvious as I e never actually looked in there. Thanks
Look in the boot under the floor. You’ll also need to remove the filler panels because the battery is hidden underneath.
Thanks
