Today whilst driving home in hybrid mode I noticed that the car had around 38% electric range left, about 9 miles of range, but oddly the car car kept using the engine ?
Even at traffic lights the engine kept running at about 900rpm ?
Normally on the exact same journey, the start/stop would kick in at junctions and traffic lights, and then the car would use the electric to pull off, and to run the car at lower speeds.
Why wouldn’t it use the remaining electric to run the car at the lower revs/speeds today ?
The engine temp was on normal so it wasnt keeping the engine running to bring it to temp .
Was the outside ambient temperature too low, but saying that, I have driven my on battery only at -2 degrees C.?
How long had the engine been running - long enough to charge the batteries?
How many auxiliary devices running - lights, wipers, heating, heated seats, demisters etc…?
I know my car has a lot of shenanigans going in that department.
Sometimes, after a full charge and the car has been in a garage at 17 C, it still feels like starting up the petrol engine even though it has full charge and the temp should be way within battery range.
I’ve stopped bothering about the strange programming behind it.
It’ll do what it does and there’s nothing I can do about it. lol
The car certainly has odd traits that no other car i’ve ever owned has had.
It just seems to do things that are complete opposite to what the manual says.
I had similar problem few month ago while stopped on front of my house. ICE engine continues to run at higher RPM and there was also noticeable change in revs. Next day during riding Engine fault check light was lit. Checked with diagnostic and got those results:
U1118-87: DS: BSI Multiplexing communication - Error
U0422-81: Invalid Data Received From Body Control Module
P2191-22: System Too Lean at Higher Load (Bank 1)
P0171-22: System Too Lean (Bank 1)
Check Engine disappear after some starts, no problem since that day.
The car will be going back into the dealers again shortly for something else so I’ll mention this latest issue.
The list of issues gets longer and longer with this car
