Electric traction system fault

Hello.
So this morning when I started the car up I had a fault come on saying electric traction system fault repair needed and the car wouldn’t go into electric mode.
After about 15 miles I pulled over and restarted the car and the fault disappeared and I could select electric mode again…any thoughts?
Perhaps the 12v needs charging?

Perhaps (small one), but if it doesn’t help, the small 12V battery needs to be replaced.

Small one? How many are there? I’m all new to hybrid (modern) cars, only used to driving old bangers🤣

Look under the floor in the rear trunk.

Ok will do… thanks for your help.

While I’m at it I’m after some advice on software updates, do you know anything about them like when do I need to update and how do I actually do it? Like I say I’m new to modern cars.:+1:

Software updates for various modules (excluding audio/nav) in the DS7 are only available in the DS Store. Here’s what you can do yourself: install the DS_update app (for PC or MAC) and you can then update via USB audio/multimedia and maps (only).

Hi Lee, When I first got my DS4 E-Tense I had the same message after a few weeks of taking ownership (it was secondhand) - with the orange spanner, saying repair needed. But that was only one time, after that I had a few weeks of getting the “Electric Mode Unavailable” warning - but I did not see the repair needed message again. I had it booked in to DS Service Centre for it to be checked - but after a few more weeks that Elec Mode Unavailable warning stopped appearing - and I’ve not seen it since . (I cancelled the service centre check). I didn’t do anything other the drive the car mix of short EV only and longer ICE journeys, no new 12V batteries or even charging them.

My guess is that the 12V battery (small aux one) had been depleted whilst sitting on garage forecourt - and it took a month or so for my regular usage to get everything in good shape.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply…so I’ve had the car 4 months now, only had this message come up this morning, I drive 44miles a day to work and back all on hybrid mode.
I stopped halfway to work and tuned the engine off, turned it back on and it’s been fine ever since…the car is 4 years old now so I’m guessing it’s depleting slowly, especially as it sat on the drive at the weekend and not used, Ive currently got it on trickle charge so will see what it’s like in the morning.
