Energy Economy Mode

So I had the car back from the dealership today after yet another attempt to fix the issue with the welcome lights, which they did not !!!

However, what I have now noticed is that after switching off the car but not exiting straight away a message pops saying “Energy Economy Mode” shutting down.
I know this is a battery saving thing but it seems to kick in fairly quickly after stopping the car and parking up, around 5 minutes , my oldVolvo had the same type of thing but you could listen to the radio ect for around 15 minutes before it shut down ?

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

Another thing I’ve only just noticed is the small flashing red LED on the drivers door internal locking switch when you lock the car .
I know the alarm on/off button above the drivers head has a small red flashing LED but I’ve never noticed the one on the door until today ?

Havent seen that prompt in my car!?
Have been sitting in the car until everything shuts down without seeing that.
Will give a test tonight.
Will also look at de flashing led, havent seen that either, nor have I noticed that theres a button to disable alarm.
Must have a look at that also

The prompt pops up about 5 minutes with just the ignition on.

The little redLED is on the door switch for the locks on the drivers door, I only noticed it tonight when I looked into the car after dark.

The alarm on/off button also has a small LED light , its on the consol above the drivers head.

These little LED’s are seen more clearly in the dark.

Tried yesterday, found the “alarm off” button - Many thanks for that! Have been really annoyed about the alarm going off when my two dog sits in the car when parked (short periods when its not hit outside".
Little LED on doorpanel is flashing.
I’m uncertain about if I sat in the car for five minutes, but long enough for dashboard to shut off and amp turning off. Infotainment still on which was a bit off pain when I got a phone call.
Could answer via Android Auto interface but as the amp was turned off I there was no possibility to communicate without redirecting call to phone.

It’s probably to do with main 12 volt battery getting tired/old. The car keeps an eye on the battery charge level and switches everything off to save enough so you do not have trouble re-starting.
You will probably see a difference (longer before the system goes to sleep) after a long drive on a nice dry day - no heating/Wipers etc.

At 7 month old it shouldnt have been degraded by much.

No It shouldn’t have but could have, or you just caught on a bad day, as I suggested, go for a long drive, 30+ mins, so you battery gets a good boost by the alternator then see how long it takes to go into sleep mode - or get it tested.

Something like this may help YouTube test.

Hmm, my everyday drive is 40 minutes one way.
I’ll try it again today and also use a timer :+1:

Just for information, my car is 18 months old, PHEV, if I sit and listen to the radio for about 10-15 minutes, as soon as I turn the ignition on the engine will run for a short while to charge the 12 volt battery.

Do you have the Focal system as I do?
Tried again, amp turns off after just a few minutes… Not a big deal but its amazing that Stellantis changes the behaviour between cars built in such a short span.

No just standard hi-fi system

Hi,
Thanks for your replies.
I’ve been in hospital for a few days so couldnt reply.

The car has been back and fore the dealership 4 times to try and solve the intermittent issues with the Keyless Entry and the Welcome lights, basically both only operate now and then, but theres no pattern as to why ?

They’ve tried countless updates, 2 new keys, a new control module and apparantly checks on the batteries that came back as ok ?

DS UK Technical are still looking into it.

Even though battery checks are apparently coming back as ok , I’ve a sneaky feeling that it could still come down to something simple like the 12v auxiliary battery, especially as I’m seeing the “Energy Economy Mode” message pop up pretty quickly after switching off the engine.
I reckon even after a 30 min journey it still shuts everything down no longer than 5 mins after switching off the engine !

Another thing I noticed today is that if you approach the car WITHOUT the keys when it’s locked up and push on any door handle all of the interior lights around the dash and console light up ?
I’m not sure if this is a DS thing or is linked to the issues I’m having with my DS at the moment ?
Maybe someone would kindly try this on theirs.

Thanks.

Tried now, only thing that lights up in my car, doing as above, is the parking brake symbol.

Thanks for trying.

I get the parking brake lighting up but also the white LED’s across the heating A/C controls, the metal ones that run across the center of the dash.
And I think one or two other ones light up in the actual drivers dash behind the plastic lens ?
Did you try it in the dark ?
The white LED’s are hard to see in daylight.

My dealership reckons this is normal as they’ve tried it on a few cars but I’m a bit sceptical, especially as I’m still having issues with the Keyless Entry & Welcome Lights.

Yes, in the dark. Had to remove some snow to be able to see through driver side window, rest of the car was covered with snow - no light from outside into cabin.
But - i try again after 1800 when its pitch black outside :+1:

Thanks again for trying, be interesting to see what you see.

Forgot to get back to you, sorry!
I tried the same scenario now in complete darkness.
Buttons below infotainment does light up, parking brake indicator and “park” indicator in front of gear shifter.
Some “buzzing” noise from the engine compartment also.
But all exterior lights is off and all ceiling lights is off.
Displays in the car stays dark.

Thanks much appreciated.

It sounds exactly like mine.
One thing I didnt try was leaving the handle sticking out ??

I know that if the handle is pushed back in flush the lights go off after a few minutes but I’m not sure what happens if its left out.
I’ll try tomorrow and let you know.

Thanks again, its a big help .
