So I had the engine lamp showing up.
Bought an OBD reader (probably should’ve done that years ago).
Error message says:
P2271(97) [0x227197] Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 2, bank 1 - signal stuck rich Status: Test failed, Pending, Confirmed, Test failed since last DTC clear, Test not completed during this operation cycle, Warning indicator requested.
My best buddy (Chat GPT) says it’s not an immediate issue and it’s fine to drive.
Everybody concur?
Obviously I’m planning to let the dealer take a look at it, but after the holidays.
This is a problem with the fuel/air mixture – too rich. There could be several causes, so it’s hard to give specific advice. You can always run in electric mode.
To me, it looks like a hole in the intake manifold. The best and cheapest way to check this first is with a smoke test.
The second option is a faulty sensor downstream of the catalytic converter. You need to read the data from it, remove it, and physically inspect it.
