So yesterday I made the trip home after being away over Christmas.
The trip was roughly 500 km and during the first half I did both system update and map update. After that I stopped for gas, shutting the car entirely down.
Later, with only about 40km left home the engine suddenly started losing power (no battery left at this point).
I was doing about 110km/h (cruise active) and I noticed the car shifting down and struggling to keep the pace. I deactivated CC and tried giving power manually, but there wasn’t much response from the engine.
It wasn’t like the engine had died, just struggling a lot to keep the pace.
The car was down to 80-90km/h and kept losing power when I saw an off-ramp that I took. After that I pulled to the side of the road and turned the car completely off, waited for a minute and then started it up again. No problem with the engine after restart. No warning lamps or anything.
Drove the rest of the way a bit worried, but didn’t noticed anything more.
What the heck happened?
Did Microsoft make the OS for the car and it just needs a regular restart to work properly?
Something I’d probably call an engine icon flashed for a second during the part where it lost power, but it disappeared as quickly as it turned up. Never saw it again after that while the engine still was struggling.
Never experienced that kind of behavior front he engine!? Doesnt sound confidence inspiring though
What could cause something similar, bad gasoline? How advanced is the timing of valves and ignition in our cars?
I’ll take a 1000km run by the 8th of January (500km each way).
If I get my car back from the workshop the 7th I’ll use it for the trip. Will get back to you with result.
I’ve never experienced such problem in my DS4 (pure petrol 1.6) and drove thousands of kilometers trough Poland, Italy and Sweden.
This year i’m going again to Sweden and Norway.
I have confidence in my car, I own it for about 2.5 year and 92000km.
I’ve experienced only typical issue with 1.6 Petrol - oil leak from top valve cover - happens on almost every Stellantis 1.6 Petrol Engine.
