Its a joke, you never know if you will make it somewhere without filling her up
It does fluctuate a lot, which can be frustrating.
As Iāve mentioned in previous posts, the figure provided for range varies so much it is, for all intents and purposes, useless.
While Iām not convinced the average MPG figure is entirely accurate either, using this alongside the estimated fuel remaining in the tank (to repeat my previous example, 44 mpg with 5 gallons left giving a 220-mile range) would surely provide a far more accurate, consistent and meaningful range estimate. This seems much more reliable and sensible than extrapolating from the last few miles of driving, which can vary hugely and which is precisely what causes the range figure to fluctuate in such a frustrating way.
Adding a hybrid vehicle to the mix makes for a disaster.
Personally, I know that driving my PHEV normally, I can safely travel 600 km on a full tank.
I believe that if they start using ex. Average consumption over the last 1000km it would be more accurate as long as the car is used in the same way. But if you attach a trailer or, a roofbox and a fully loaded boot the estimation would be far of.
I rather see the car being pesimistisc than overly optimistic.
I see no real difference between how DS estimate compared to how Volvo, Mercedes etc estimates.
