Unfortunately, this dealer is not prepared to take a hit on a car he has taken a chance on at auction and got burnt, and this will sadly be at someone else’s expense. You can tell the level of dishonesty when you look at the flood of positive reviews on autotrader that appear in short periods of time for the dealer. The dealer doesn’t have enough cars to warrant so many reviews on a short period of time!!
I also enquired about the car and got a reply that did everything possible to skirt around the issue but sound reassuring. The dealer is playing on the fact it has a fresh MOT (if love to see an invoice for the brakes that were previously an advisory - bet they’ve not been replaced) and AA inspection. He can’t accept that a MOT won’t find the poor Hidden damage repairs, neither will the AA.
Unfortunately that appears to be the case - showing as taxed and MOT’d. I know the dealer wouldn’t have told them everything so will only be a matter of time before they find their way here or reject the car.
I doubt very much they’ll take the car back again and try to pin everything back on the buyer.
Hopefully - if they do find their way here I’ll try and help them out as much as I can
It’s been a while but thought I would post an update now the dust has settled.
Back at the start of January, on my birthday to be precise, my case was heard in the small claims court against Bravo Motor Cars who sold me the DS7. The judge rightfully ruled the garage had negligently misrepsented the vehicle at point of sale and ruled in my favour! I was fortunate to recoup the costs I laid out during the sale and return process, plus my court fees.
So glad I didn’t back down and once again thank you to Derby and RJB1979 for all the information, evidence and details you gave to support my case!
Unfortunately the car was sold on back in Sept/Oct time to someone new and I doubt BMC were honest with them either. I have noticed this week the car - KS72 RCO - is showing untaxed as of 24th Jan this year but no change of logbook since it sold Sept/Oct time. So I am guessing either all the issues have resurfaced with the new owners and it’s off the road or they maybe having their own battle with BMC.
Whilst I am glad that ordeal is over, unfortunately mine has had to go into DS this week for a warranty claim as the antenna has died so no radio or SAT NAV. Randomly it had died whilst it was in the main dealer having it’s service and MOT.
Main dealer are waiting on DS Technical support so fingers crossed they won’t have it for too long.
New owner of the dodgy DS7 here. Currently in dispute trying to get rid of it.
One simple vcheck would’ve saved me from the ordeal, we did check a couple of vehicle history check sites before buying but no major faults were flagged, all was revealed on vcheck. At the very minimum for transparency, this vehicle should be listed as a Cat write-off.
I have ended up here after attempting to sell the car to Motorpoint as we spotted a fault, car ‘appeared’ fine initially before purchase.
Any tips on how to get this resolved would be appreciated.
Hi Andrew so sorry to hear you now have the vehicle! Agreed this vehicle shouldn’t be on the road and whoever fudged the repairs rather than go through insurance has caused a nightmare for everyone afterwards.
Hi Andrew, like Mike said above, so sorry to hear you’ve ended up with this car. I’m assuming you purchased this from a certain dealership in Rickmansworth? If so, i hope they declared the cars history (including pics of the damage), as they had it and were taken to court by the previous owner. I’ll DM you offline, as i was also one of the unlucky owners of this car alongside Mike and another guy, who is also on this forum (all 3 of us rejected the car to different dealers)
Unfortunately I have a feeling in my waters it was our lovely friends at Rickmansworth who sold the car again and I am guessing they didn’t declare elements or share any pics.
It’s mad that its almost a year to the date I purchased the car (25/05/25) and the post has gone active again. I know from the DVLA vehicle information online the logbook changed in October last year and from memory I think it was untaxed for a period of time from the end of Jan to March , so not sure if this is the case where you bought the car or it was off the road.
But as mentioned happy to help where/if I can so don’t hesitate to come back to me here or via private message.
Yes the very same dealer in Rickmansworth, Bravo Motors. Imagine trying to have this conversation without the internet, quite incredible I actually just googled the reg of the car hoping to see something by chance and this post popped up - after the sale of course but helpful none the less. Thanks for the quick responses.
We had officially sold the car to Motorpoint in Jan with an appraisal etc but then they refused to pay off the finance after doing deeper checks. Initial mechanical checks before the appraisal were done so they weren’t entirely off the hook but I took it back. Only knew about the faults when trying to sell and of course uncovered the extent of faults for the car, shame as it is a nice car from the outside.
I have logged a case with the Motor Ombudsman, wanted to attempt this first before looking at court options.
should mention there was a humming noise in the cabin, got a bearing replacement done by DS under warranty and that seemed to go away, did you notice any faults when driving?
This is where the internet does come in handy (at times) I did try and plaster the reg across this forum and online reviews I did on Bravo to try and help it stand out if ever searched. I know Rjb1979 ensured to update Vcheck so the images showed on the history.
This forum saved me thankfully a week after buying the car. Had a bit of a fight to get them to take it back and then had to take them to small claims court. But if Bravo didn’t tell you about the faults (which they knew of) then you definitely should persue it further.
When I owned the vehicle it drove really well, no issues mechanically from that respect. Just all the electrical faults and the sunroof leaking water when it rained.
I did price up selling the car to Motorpoint at one stage and I can’t remember if someone here told me or I found out elsewhere but once a car goes over a certain number of owners the price plummets, pretty much was less than half the price I paid for the car.
Have Bravo taken the car back or have they refused?
If you want to drop me a DM I am happy to share some contact details and discuss further.
