I am reaching out to all of you with a question related to an issue I have with my DS4 2022 version. The turn signal sound has changed, including the pedestrian warning sound. On top of that, it seems to be coming from the steering wheel speaker and not from the other speakers. I have also attached two video recordings. A 70 MAI T800 dashcam was installed with a hardwire kit, but even though it has been completely disconnected from the car, the sound remains the same, including the sound for the missing car key, which is different from the original one.
Could you please tell me if you have ever experienced this issue? I have reset everything to factory settings on the car, I have looked through the sound settings, but I have not found anything that would help me change the turn signal and warning sounds back to the original ones.
I am thinking it might be an issue with the cables in the panel.
Some opinions from your side would be of great help.
I’ve noticed on occasion the sound for the turn signal sometimes goes out of sequence, its hard to explain but it seems as though the sound isnt in time.
Thank you for your reply. Tomorrow I will make another recording related to the turn signal and the missing key warning. I will get back to you tomorrow with two more mp4 files.
I have made two recordings. The first one is related to the turn signal sound.
The second one I discovered today, that the seatbelt unfastened sound is also different.
More specifically, these sounds no longer come through the car speakers, but through the speaker in the steering wheel.
I cannot figure out what the cause could be, given that in the DS4 2022 settings I do not have any setting for this.
Also, if it is not too much to ask, I would kindly request anyone who has the time and possibility to send me the original sound they have on their car related to the turn signals and not only.
As @Jactac mentioned above, both cases sound differently than mine as well, and it’s a bit weird. OTA update could cause this issue.
May i ask what is your current system version. Mine is NHW.1.20.97.5.
Not sure if this is the latest available,at least i don’t see any pending update. My car’s countey of origin was Germany and i live in Greece, and i have transitioned all services to my region.
Thank you Jactac, Spyros_Papadolias, I appreciate your involvement and your attempt to help me.
Jactac, my apologies, when I said speaker on the steering wheel I was referring to the buzzer. Somehow these sounds are no longer heard through the speakers but through the buzzer. What I know for sure is that they have all changed. As you have seen, even the seatbelt warning sounds completely different, including the pedestrian warning which also sounds different. Tomorrow I will make a recording of the sound that is heard when the key is not near the vehicle.
The sounds that I have noticed as changed so far are: turn signals, pedestrian warning, animal warning, seatbelt not connected and vehicle key missing.
For example, the sound in the Focal Electra system and when I park the car, regarding the parking sensors, it sounds as it should.
Spyros_Papadolias, tomorrow I will also check the OTA version, I have not checked that yet.
I will get back with new updates tomorrow.
Thank you and I apologize for bothering you, but the DS service in my country (Romania) is quite far from the city where I live. However, I do have a specialist for Peugeot and Citroën cars, but even so, he has not been able to figure it out yet.
Andrew_PL, I have come to pretty much the same conclusion about 30 minutes ago when I discovered that the respective sounds are those from Peugeot (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/hgTkCwGQ5GQ) and I am thinking whether the mechanic made some modification with Diagbox. I do not know if it is possible, but I will ask him on Monday.
Today when I went and he ran the diagnostics, he said there were some communication errors, but nothing related to the sound issue.
Tomorrow I will check the OTA version to see what kind of versions it’s present.
This isn’t a problem with OTA updates or the Infotainment software version. First, check the BSI (VSM1) settings, which is where system sounds are transmitted (to the buzzer or Infotainment).
Thank you for all the effort put in and I greatly appreciate seeing people who want to help.
No problem at all that technology is not your strongest point, it is fine.
The 2 videos are not working, I recommend https://wetransfer.com/, it is free, or the video can also be uploaded directly if it does not take up too much space. If you cannot manage, no problem at all.
I have checked the system version: NHW.1.26.82.9 I have also uploaded two more recordings.
Sound when the door is open and the car is in Drive or Reverse.
Sound when the car key is not present in the car.
I have spoken to the mechanic and it will only be Friday evening that I can go to him to try what Andrew_PL suggested.
I will come back to you if I will have news about this issue.
I wanted to let you know that I’ve finally managed to solve the problem.
The issue was that all the car’s warning sounds had stopped playing through the speakers and were coming through the steering wheel buzzer instead. The sounds were different, which is normal since the buzzer can’t reproduce the same tones as the speakers. After connecting Diagbox and investigating, we noticed that the front-left tweeter was showing errors. Once we removed the protective cover where the tweeter is mounted, we found that the connector wasn’t making proper contact.
After plugging the tweeter back in correctly, all warning sounds returned to normal.
As a future solution for anyone facing this issue, where warning sounds switch from the speakers to the buzzer, check if your audio system speakers are working correctly. It seems that if a speaker malfunctions or is disconnected, the system redirects the warning sounds to the buzzer. This is actually logical, as it ensures the alerts don’t disappear entirely.
I hope this helps if anyone else runs into the same problem.
I also want to say a big thank you to everyone for your involvement and help. I really appreciate it.
You can see that buzzer in the attached photo, as noted by both Andrew_PL and myself. It seems this buzzer is used in the situations mentioned above, if the alert sounds (such as seatbelt reminders, doors opening while driving, missing key, turn signals, etc.) cannot function through the speakers due to a problem, like in my case, the system automatically switches to the buzzer so that these alerts can still be heard.
This little speaker is what sounds if camera detects something on the road, it tweets twice and there’s a warning pop up on the dash display at the same time that says “BRAKE !”.
I’ve noticed this a couple of times if the car thinks I’m approaching something a bit too quick or it detects an object.
It seems to happen often at the same place, its a small road that suddenly dips, so I think the camera is detecting the road has disappeared so it’s warning the driver to brake.
The tweet definitely comes from that small speaker and coincides with the “BRAKE” warning pop up on the dash…
