Hi , can you turn off lane assist permanently on a ds7 crossback? Thanks
Welcome to the community, @Davetomlinson2075 !
Both the “Lane positioning assist” and the “Lane keeping assist” remembers the activation status when the car is switched off, according to the manual.
I always use both myself so I can’t currently vouch for the what the manual says.
What is your experience?
Do you have the two buttons left side, behind and below the steering wheel?
They call it the “Side control bar”, and which buttons you have there may vary depending on configuration.
Thought it was an European regulation that states they have to reactivated when ever the ignition is switch on, and soon, a few years time, not be able to be switch off!
I don’t know anything about that.
Personally, I think it would be insane to force it to always be active, even though I usually use it myself.
On some road conditions it’s much safer to turn it off. It hinders more than it helps.
Anyway, the manual says for both features that “The status of the system is memorised when the ignition is switched off.”
Some nighttime reading
Hi , thanks , i have the lane assist button to the lower right of the steering wheel , uk version i turn off , but when i start the car , its back on so nerf to turn it off every time just wondering if it can be permanently switched off , Thanks.
Which model year do you have?
It might differ I suppose.
I’m reading the manual for 2022 model:
https://www.manua.ls/citroen/ds7-crossback-2022/manual?p=1
Page 125 for the Lane positioning assist:
“The system status is saved when the
ignition is switched off.”
Page 136 for the Lane keeping assist:
“The status of the system is memorised when the ignition is switched off.”
So if it doesn’t remember it in your car, then they must have changed it because I can’t imagine that there would be another parallell setting for it somewhere else.
2018 ds7 prestige
I don’t know what else to tell you.
The manual for 2018 says the same, that it should remember the setting.

No worries, thsnk you
According to the manual in the link provided by you, page 136 is about Blind spot monitoring.
So, for Lane Keeping Assist, page 135 states:
" Deactivation/Activation
By default, the system is automatically activated
at every engine start."
That is completely true, mate. I accidentally skipped a part.
Ok, so the Lane positioning assist will stay deactivated after ignition restart if set to.
But the more emergency like feature, the Lane keeping assist, will always be activated at start.
Are we in agreement?
As the manual says:
Deactivation/Activation
By default, the system is automatically activated at every engine start.
It is configured in the ADAS touch screen application.
or
Direct access to the Shortcuts for driving aids.
Deactivation is confirmed by the illumination of this indicator lamp on the instrument panel
I guess that’s true only at the default settings, just change them if you don’t like them. I haven’t tried myself however.
I’d be very happy if you could point out in the manual where you can change that.

Alright, thanks!
@Davetomlinson2075 You finally got the answer you were looking for. Yes, you can turn it off.
Sorry for the long detour. I take full responsibility for that.
Checked in my car today, and mine doesn’t have that setting.
Do you (or anyone else) have it?
Two buttons on dash to lower left side of steering wheel, one switches off self steering - if press and hold the self steering switches, it goes off and does not come back on even after restarts.
Lane assist I think will always return… It’s a more mature technology so it’s baked in…
