To follow on from my first post about our DS3 not starting.
It wil need to be put on a flatbed recover lorry.
I can release the parking brake. But its an automatic gearbox in park. Does anyone know how to get it out of park. On some autos there was a button under a cover by the " gear selector " I could not see anything obvious there though.
Any advice would be appreciated.
If it’s an EAT8, there’s no such button. There’s only a procedure described in the manual. You can try setting it to P, but I don’t know if it will work:
page 149
Practical information…
Release procedure
► With the vehicle stationary and the engine running, select mode N and switch off the engine.
Within 5 seconds:
► Switch on the ignition.
► While depressing the brake pedal, move the push selector forwards or backwards to confirm mode N.
► While depressing the brake pedal, press the control to release the parking brake.
► Release the brake pedal, switch off the ignition.
If the 5-second time limit is exceeded, the gearbox engages mode P; it is then necessary to restart the procedure.
If the above fails, unfortunately you will need to dismantle the electrical module on the gearbox and manually move the gearbox to the N position.
Cheers for that information. It looks like it will need to have the electrical module dismantled as the engine will not start anyway.
Before doing this, leave the car unlocked, the battery disconnected, and the wheels in a straight-ahead position. Otherwise, there will be a lot of errors.
Once you have reached your destination, lower the vehicle to the ground, install the electrical module on the gearbox and then connect the battery.
Look around because there is still the street lifter option and then you don’t have to do anything.
I have breakdown cover. Nearer to the garage appointment date I have to phone and book a lorry to get the car there. I was told to mention the carvis locked in park and the parkibg break is on. Then the breakdown company will send a truck with the appropriate equipment.
Where is the electrical module situated by the way.
The electrical module is located at the top of a gearbox, closer to the front of the car.
