Hi, I had a look in manual but couldn’t see anything that clearly explains:
Is there a way of locking the car without it doing the double beep you get when locking by pressing the lock button on the remote/key. Maybe that isn’t possible
Can you unlock the car without the “Welcome” lights coming on at night ? I have the lights set to sidelights (not “Auto”), but lights still come on when I unlock at night. I can’t see a setting to disable. The manual mentions a process to disable the “Guide me home” lighting - i.e. what the lights do when you turn off ignition - maybe it also disables the Welcome lighting as well?
For your first question; My car only beeps twice when i get far from car and it automatically locks and beeps twice but if I lock it pressing the lock button on remote; it just locks and never beeps. I did not see any settings about it and its always been like that. And about your second question, as far as i know you can not disable welcoming lights. There were only 2 light settings about coming home lights (which helps you see your way in dark right after exit from the car) and switching adaptive headlight for highway and different weather conditions.
Same with mine,
Auto locks when you walk away without touching the fob = 2 beeps.
Manually locking with fob = no beeps.
Alarm sets in both instances.
Double clicking the fob also deadlocks the doors.
If I recall there is a setting to turn off the welcome home lighting, but its either on or off…
I don’t believe it will differentiate between day and night, its either on or off.
You need to try it to see.
Check in the settings if this is same on yours too.
Thanks. I’ve just been out to confirm, and mine beeps when I walk far enough for it to auto lock, but it does the same double beep when I lock it by pressing the lock button on the remote. My car is 2022 E-Tense.
Also, not sure what I have done, but the welcome lights now only come on for 1-2 seconds, whereas before I am sure they stayed on for much longer. I did turn off the external welcome animations in the in-car settings - so maybe that has changed that, but the headlights do still come on but briefly (which is better). I coudln’t see any other settings related to the welcome lighting.
Perhaps the e -tense is different to my DS4 petrol.
I thought there was a slider in the menus for the timing length of lights on?
But mine is 24, so spose menus etc may have changed .
TBH,
most of the time, my welcome lights do not work and I have to click the fob to unlock
Sometimes the lights don’t work but the doors unlock when I get to them.
No longer bothers me.
All my Citroëns & DS 's have had fickle technology, its part of being a French Car I think ;o)
As I say, it no longer bothers me… but would be nice if their tech actually worked properly!
I saw a slider for duration of the “Guide me home” lighting, which is how long the lights stay on after turning the ignition off. Sometimes I don’t want the full Welcome bright illumination coming on when I unlock late at night.
Yes, its not a big problem, and just was looking to see if I could change behaviour.
This is due to a number of reasons.
Low 12v battery is usually the main cause.
Ambient lighting is not dark enough.
Proximity feature (auto locking/unlocking/lights ) can be be very fickle if you’ve walked past the car too many times without actually opening the doors , starting the engine or driven .
This can right itself if you take the car on a decent journey.
I had a lot of issues with the proximity features when I first bought the car , it was back and fore the dealership constantly.
Both 12v Batteries were replaced 5 times, new keys issued, updates carried out , central locking modules replaced, but nothing seemed to work.
It wasn’t until I compared my DS4 E Tense to my sons Vauxhall Astra Ultimate PHEV, which as you’ll probably know are basically the same car both made by Stellantis.
It was after comparing the same features on both cars and comparing both manuals that we realised the Vauxhall manual explained everything far better than the DS manual.
Basically the DS manual is not very clear in explaining how the system works, but when I read the Vauxhall manual for my sons car it all made more sense.
Not even the tech guys at my DS dealership realised there was nothing wrong, they were trying to get the features to work according to the DS manual.
So when the features were not working as per DS manual they just started replacing batteries ect.
All that was required is a clearer explanation in the DS manual how some features actually operate… However, low 12v batteries, whether that be the main one under the bonnet or the smaller one inside car can effect certain features on the car, so have them checked out just in case.
An example of the DS manual being confusing is , the two beeps your hear when walking away is to confirm that the doors have locked, it has nothing to do with the alarm being set, yet the DS manual does not explain this.
The alarm on the DS4 E Tense earlier models (up to late 2023) is only activated when locking with the remote fob.
Confirmation is the indicators flashing, when locking with the remote fob.
On later models the doors lock and the alarm sets when walking away, you’ll see the indicators flash without the need to lock with the fob.
This is clearly explained in the Vauxhall manual, it’s not so clear in the DS manual .
