My Ds4 2021

Hello everyone,

I thought I would introduce myself and share my experience so far with my DS 4, as well as ask a few questions.

About two months ago, I purchased a 2021 DS 4 La Première with 78,000 km and the 1.6 PureTech 180 hp engine. The car is very well equipped and, as far as I can tell, it has almost every option except the panoramic sunroof, Night Vision and the Focal Electra sound system. I specifically wanted a petrol car that would be relatively simple, comfortable and efficient for daily use.

Since buying it, I have installed a 70mai T800 dashcam with the 4G module. Later, I also added a 70mai battery pack because the camera was disconnecting far too quickly when the engine was off. Everything is connected through a hardwire kit plugged into the OBD port using an OBD splitter. For the rear camera, I also had to purchase a USB-C extension cable because the original cable was not long enough for the DS 4.

My biggest mistake so far involved the screens. I got tired of constantly cleaning fingerprints from the central display and the Smart Touch screen, so I decided to install matte screen protectors. Unfortunately, I had left the installation kit inside the car in the sun. I successfully installed the protector on the main display, but while installing the one on the Smart Touch screen, I noticed a small piece of dust. I used the dust-removal sticker included in the kit and it left adhesive residue on the screen.

To this day, I have not been able to remove it. I have already tried three different adhesive-removal products purchased on Amazon, without success. At this point I am honestly wondering whether replacing the screen would be easier. I found used Smart Touch units online for around €200–250 from dismantlers, while my DS dealer quoted approximately €700 for a new part including replacement. Has anyone here replaced the Smart Touch screen themselves? Is it a straightforward job, or does the replacement require coding/programming afterward?

Another issue is the driver’s seat heating, which is currently not working. Fortunately, this should be covered under the warranty. However, I also have a question about the ventilated seats. On my car, when I activate seat ventilation, I mostly hear a fairly loud fan noise and only feel a light airflow. Is that normal on the DS 4, or should the cooling effect be stronger?

Finally, the connected services and ChatGPT. I paid for Navigation Connected Plus and ChatGPT, both subscriptions are active and correctly displayed in the MyDS app, but they never became available in the vehicle. The dealership checked the car and says there is no fault with the vehicle and that I simply need to wait. The problem is that I have already been waiting for two months while continuing to pay for services that I still cannot use.

Has anyone experienced similar issues with Connected Services or ChatGPT activation? How long did it take for the services to appear in the car? Did you have to contact DS support directly, or was there another solution?

Thank you in advance for any advice and feedback.

I recently purchased maps and chat services and it took 2-3 days to connect to the car.

Try alcohol medical wipes on your screen, or a medical adhesive remover spray.

Hi @Andrei_D ,
You could try a very small amount of WD-40, as it usually works quite well for removing glue or sticky residue.

I would not spray it directly onto the screen. Maybe apply a tiny amount to a soft microfiber cloth first, test it on a very small corner/edge of the screen, and see if it affects the surface in any way.

So what should I do? What is the problem with my car?

Thanks for the details.

If you have already tried glass cleaner, Tesa glue remover and another stronger adhesive remover without any improvement, then I would be quite careful with trying more chemicals.

From the photo, it almost looks less like normal glue residue and more like the anti-glare/top coating of the screen may have been damaged or partially removed by the sticker or by the cleaning attempts.

I assume you have already checked whether the affected area still feels sticky or has any texture/residue on top of the screen. If it does, then maybe there is still some adhesive left. But if the surface feels smooth and the mark is just cloudy/white or scratched-looking, then I would suspect the coating itself is damaged.

In that case, I would personally stop using adhesive removers, because anything stronger may only make the damaged area larger. Maybe a new matte screen protector could hide it a bit, but I’m not sure it will ever look perfect again if the coating has been affected.

I suggested WD-40 as it can sometimes help with glue residue, but after seeing the photo and knowing what you have already tried, I would only test that if you are already considering replacing the screen anyway, and only on a very small area with a microfiber cloth, never sprayed directly onto the screen.

There may also be a problem that the services are assigned to the previous owner and linked to his account.

But the app is linked to the VIN of my car.

You may try using Isoprpyl alcohol and soft toothbrush for the touch screen. I’m not sure if it would remove it but at least it won’t harm the screen at least. Does the residue still feels sticky or just pale as it looks?

It was like this after the sticker because i ve tried to wipe it . Someone recommended me a solution more powerful

It’s not sticky

Normally this product is used for taking off asphalt tar or other petrol related residues, so its strong. Be carefull while using it. I asked is it sticky or not because screen might got harmed while protector being swiped off. Also for wentilated seats; people criticise about fans inside seats being noisy in the PSA group cars, so thats how it is i think but i’ve never heard or see its not giving enough air.

Go to a chemist buy the wipes or spray give them a go.
You’ve nothing to lose, you cant make it any worse.
However, looking at the photo, you might of etched the screen with what ever you’ve put on it.
If that is the case I think you options of repairing/cleaning are very limited.
