New DS9 Owner

Hello!

I’m growing my family and I decided to get a new saloon. After studying my local market for a while, I decided that the best ratio room/confort/tech for my coin was this DS9:

And I went for it last November. I was advertised as a 2024 DS9 eTense 250 Rivoli+, from Jan 2024, only 8000 km, 36000 euro. Sold in Spoticar. The previous owner was the dealership manager, so the car was only used to go home to work and back. So I thought it was a great deal.

I test drived the car, I liked the ride and I bought the thing. I asked the salesman about the manual, he told me to use myDS to download it, and thats where the nightmare begun.

So: After struggling with the manual for a few days, with stuff like:

  • Where TF is chat GPT, it was supposed to have ChatGPT
  • Android auto is not connecting wirelessly. With cable it shows the climate controls on the sides, taking 1/3 of the screen
  • Everytime I got into the car the radio is turn on, annoying
  • I cant edit the home screen with widgets, in fact IDK how to open my homescreen
  • The maps are from 1970
  • 360 cameras resolution is crap
  • Overall, super laggy and counter intuitive system

I finally understood, by looking at youtube videos, that I had no IRIS system. Instead, I had the old system named NAC. And what is worse: With a 2021 update installed!!! I tryed to get some assistance from the dealer and DS Spain, but they are playing dumb like “But who knows what radio a car has! Its impossible to know”, and I’m like “Man, you made the car, you should know”.

So my theory is that they sold me a 2022 or early 2023 model that was not registered until 2024. When It came the time to sell it, they thought “We registered in 2024, so its a 2024. Who is going to notice?”. Well me, I’m going to notice that I have a crappy old infotainment system in my allegedly luxury sedan.

I don’t know how to feel to be honest: I love the car, I love how it rides and how confy it is. Electric mode should be able to provide 50 to 70 km, and it only estimates 38 on fully charge, but other than that the ride is what I expected. But being a techy guy I’m really struggling with the infotainment system and also It hurts my ego that they lied to me and I didn’t noticed because I really wanted the car to be that good of a deal. So now I’m involving lawyers, I need some compensation to get my peace of mind.

My question for you guys. Any idea on how to get the assembly date of the car? I got this crazy firmware version from the car itself:

Its impossible that the car was made back in 2020, but its crazy how this unit stayed not updated until now, and even left the factory in whatever year with a firmware that was already years old. I can not wrap my mind around the fact.

TLDR: What the f did I bought???

Hi @Fran_Bosquet

Date of assembly is on a sticker on pillar B. It’s 5 digits. For yours MY begginning from 17XXX.
01.01.2024 its OPR/ORGA no - 17220 + each day gives i.e. no 17420 as date 19.07.2024
The production date does not indicate the sale date/warranty start date, so you may have a car manufactured in 2023 but purchased in 2024

As for the radio, it could have been damaged and replaced at the DS Store. It’s best to check the radio’s sticker – that’s where the production date is. The software date doesn’t necessarily correspond to the radio’s production date. You can also check this with Diagbox software, but that requires a fee.

Welcome to the community, @Fran_Bosquet !
I’m sorry to hear the dealer scammed you on the model year.
At least I can probably help you with the radio-starting-automatically issue.
I do use Carplay, and not Android, but I 'd assume it works the same.
I got me an Ottocast Wireless Carplay/Android dongle that makes the connection wireless, without cable. And the beauty of it is that the infotainment system also starts in Carplay mode automatically, so you don’t have to listen to the radio every time you start. It annoyed the **** out of me in the beginning before I had the dongle.

To quickly identify the year of manufacture, read the eighth digit from the end of the VIN (or the tenth from the beginning):
J=2018,
K=2019,
L=2020,
M=2021,
N=2022,
P=2023,
R=2024,
S=2025

So the coincidence is that I managed to get an answer from DS Spain today, the same day I decided to seek for help here.

They just confirmed the assembly date: December 2022. So thats why I have no IRIS. This is really sad, as I know for sure that Its not possible to update the system. And yes, I should have asked here before, there is an N in my VIN for the eighth char from right, so that matches 2022.

Also, I installed the latest maps, and they are one year old.

Ill have to live with this

Yeah, I

Hi Jay! Good advice! I did the same: I bought an offbrand wireless adapter. Issue is that I need to manually get into android auto. I just installed the latest NAC release from 2023, so maybe is fixed in this version.

Also, I’m probably going to view an AAwireless Two+ adapter. My wife uses an iPhone so it can be handy to have a button to switch between one and another.

Thank you guys!! Now that I have confirmation of the missmatch between the MY and the dealer advertisement (which stated MY2024) I’m going to left this to the lawyers. Hopefully I would be able to get some compensation
