While i’ve seen the other posts regarding cabin heating. Unfortunately i believe it’s not the heater matrix that’s the culprit in my case. I can hear a distinct clapping sound when switching the heating on and i believe its the flap responsible for letting the hot air inside. I’ve asked my preferred dealership for a quote regarding the part price and apparently it only comes as an entire unit that costs 1200euros and an additional 600euros in labor fees, as it involves disassembling the entire dashboard (jesus christ!). Does anyone know of a workaround or perhaps a fix kit? I know chances are slim but i figured i’ve got nothing to lose in asking, so here i am.
There’s no reasonable or simple repair method since spare parts are unavailable. Removing the dashboard and refitting it takes a day. The cost is similar everywhere. A used air mixer, however, costs pennies. It’s important to find one that’s relatively new. This is the only way to save money if DIY isn’t an option.
The first issue with removing the dashboard is the airbag connectors. They can get damaged, which can cause problems with refitting - these connectors overheat and can break.
The second issue is draining and refilling the air conditioning system because the evaporator must be removed together with air mixer.
