Oil level

I am not sure if my stick can show me appropriate oil level although every time I start my car message on the cluster says “oil level ok”.

Here are the photos of my oil stick and cluster

should it be in between the two raised bits on the stick ?

My previous Volvo didnt have a stick, it was all electronic.

I didnt like it at all, there’s nothing like pulling on your stick and taking a good look and sniff of your sticky stuff.

Yes, that’s why I’m confused, I don’t know what is this. Pipe for the oil stick has some curvature when you pull out and in so I am not sure about this checking method.

I have received red oil light flashing on my dashboard today, my service due is in 4 weeks and the grey key simbol is now fixed when driving. I noticed that DS4 has only red oil light, it’s either fixed or flashing, so does it mean that it was just message to top up a bit of oil or eventually malfunction of the pump or engine. I put 300grams of quartz ineo first 0W-30 and now seems ok, no message so far.

After this warning I drove 10 kilometers to my home with the speed no more than 50Kmh

Any recommendation from you guys?

I ll try to upload short video here

I might be wrong but I think a fixed red icon is an escalation ?
Is your flashing oil light icon separate to the spanner icon that is shown in your photo?
The spanner is telling you the service is due or have the car checked.
I think in your case its letting you know your service is due.
But I’m not sure you should see a red oil light icon when the service is due ?
Red usually means theres an issue , I wouldn’t of thought a flashing red or fixed red oil light is just letting you know the oil needs changing.
The service light is there for that, which is the grey spanner.

Yes, spanner is already for a week there, but if you read any manual from DS, Peugeot, Citroën there is only red fixed oil light, which is low pressure, beside thath, there is also no mention in the manuals about standard orange/yellow oil light, just the red one. Also it is not clear readable oil levels from the dip stick - it is useless. I am really confused and worried that the damage to the engine was done

Personally anything to do with oil messages wouldnt hang around, I would get it checked out .

After I put some oil, message disappeared. I have regular yearly inspection in a month and I will know if I did any damage to the engine.
