So I’m going to replace the factory focal sub with a custom sub.
My custom sub is a 8,4L box I made, a Focal P20FSE 200WRMS at 4ohms and a Helix One M mono amp 240RMS at 4ohms.
Everything fits just need to wait 1 more day for the sub driver to arrive and mount.
I would like to do the connections myself but I have no idea how the heck to find the + and -. And my helix amp only has entry for 4 cables on high imput, so I need to use 4 out of 6 the factory sub has.
There are 3 solid colors on one side and same colors but with whiteish stripe on the other side.
I can deduct that the full color cables are + while the ones with stripe are negative.
So by my logic I should use red solid and for exaple blue solid as + and red stripe, blue stripe as their negative, leaving both yellow capped?
Have you tried disconnecting the factory subwoofer? What happens? Usually, everything stops playing and there’s silence from all speakers. What’s the new wiring diagram you have after removing the factory subwoofer?
I literally have the factory sub at home and all the speakers sound fine, I feel like I got everything figured out with the help of gemini IA, seems like I need to get 4 cables, and leave 2 capped, seems like the sub gets signal from 3 channels, all 3 have the same exact signal, so with 4 signal cables should be alright
If these three channels had the same signal, only one channel for the sub would be sufficient. You’ll lose something from the sound on the sub, but who knows what.
Did the audio play when you disconnected the sub or did you drive with the sub disconnected for a few days?
