Service Light Advice

Hope someone can offer some advice.
This may seem like I’m asking on the wrong site/forum but theres a reason.
My son has a Vauxhall Astra PHEV, which as we know is basically the DS PHEV, hence asking my question here hoping someone can help.

So, his car has popped up the annual service due light on the dash, which is a small yellow spanner symbol, he’s booked the car in for its service for two weeks time, however earlier today whilst driving, another spanner appeared on the dash, this time in red.

I’ve tried Googling this but the advice is a bit vague.
So would anyone know if the red symbol is a further reminder to get the service done or an actual fault indicator.

The car is running fine and there no engine management light is showing.
The onboard diagnostic tool isn’t reporting any faults either.
My guess is that it’s a further reminder connected to the original service light reminder if the service has interval has been exceeded, but I might be wrong.

We’ll contact the Vauxhall dealership in the morning but we already know they cant get the car in for a service any sooner than 2 weeks, and he’s actually away with the car at the moment and a bit concerned if driving it is ok.

I’m wondering as the it’s a PHEV like our DS4 PHEV and built by Stellantis if anyone has seen this when their car is due for its service.

Any advice appreciate

I would guess it’s an escalation of the warning. Maybe it’s even exceeded the service interval.
Ours never turns red as it seems, so that might be manufacturer specific.

In an Opel, this symbol may light up alongside other warning lights and a corresponding message on the driver information display.

The yellow spanner was first appear, which has stayed illuminated each time the car is started, then a few days later a red spanner appeared alongside the yellow spanner.

I cant find anything in the manual that says a red spanner will illuminate if the service interval has been exceeded.

I cant find any message showing and the onboard diagnostic tool says no faults found.
We are waiting for the dealership to ring back with advice.
Our thoughts at the moment is that its a further reminder to get the service done ?

As you can see, the Opel manual holds secrets too, just like the DS4 manual

Had this on my DS4, just endorcing that the service is not only due but over date.

Have you tried just resetting the service reminder? It will clear whether a service has been done or not. If the spanner disappears, you’ll know it was just a reminder.

Not yet,
The car is booked in for the service so I’m expecting it to clear once they’ve carried out the service.
