Specs - real-world vs brochures

Hi,
Not an important subject but kind of interesting (for me at least).
I’ve told you guys in a few different threads that my car didn’t have the same spec as in the brochures.
Not a bad thing at all, I got more then I thought I would.
Browsed through the (hopefully) updated brochure at DS Swedish and UK sites to see if any changes has been made.
I’m driving a DS4 e-tense Exclusive with active scan suspension as only “add on”.
What I got that neither the brochure included or my salesguy told me.
Auto dimming exterior mirrors
360 camera
Easy open trunk (kick under fender)
Inductive charger in storage in front of cup holders.
Adjustable tigh support (standard on all “lines” but not mentioned anywhere
Removable tow hook.

Thing is that if was a demo or stock car I would understand if it had a few extras. But my car was ordered by me according to the Exclusive spec.
Is it just DS that are really bad in keeping their sales personell and brochures up to date or did I get really lucky with my car?

Did you guys get anything extra that wasn’t mentioned in the brochure?

Could be yours was manufactured in between changes of spec or vin number.

When I researched specs for my Performance Plus I was a bit confused with what the car would/should come with.
Like you I found a number things on the car that was not mentioned in the online brochure
The sales guy at my dealership did a very good job of trying to explain the differences and also finding an “old” brochure that showed more specs and optional extras than the new updated brochure.
You have to search lots of sites to find the “old” brochures that show each level of spec more clearly.
My Performance Plus has features that match the 1st edition brochure but not the later versions.
The sales guy said that ,apparently at one point DS had 14 different levels of spec and features of the DS4 , each one with a slightly different spec and slightly different option packs that were available, so they really needed to trim things down.
It was even too confusing for sales people at dealerships.
If you go to the DS UK site now I think theres just 3 levels of DS4 , each with different level of spec.
So DS have now took all the different specs & options from 14 versions of DS4 and “shared” them out over the 3 models that are currently available.
It sounds to me if you could be one of the lucky owners, like me who had features and extras added, which would now be charged for.
Mine has a black roof , 20 inch alloys and comfort pack with electric tailgate, 360 degree camera, lane assist , active suspension, and more, but none of these showed in the later brochures.

Maybe there has been just as much confusion at DS then selves due to the changing specs and trim levels…
In Sweden we only have Performance and Exclusive for the e-tense. Also a whooping total of 5 addons to choose from for performance line and 3 for exclusive.
Sunroof, 20" alloys and Active scan suspension.
Opera trim was available during a short period of time, also DS night vision was available but not any more.

I’m currently driving a loan car from the dealership as mine is in looking at the keyless entry issue.
The car they’ve loaned me is the exact same model & spec as mine, Performance plus E Tense.
Because mine has been back & fore the dealership for a few weeks trying to solve this keyless entry/Welcome Lights thing, the Master Tech guy has been in touch with DS UK on many occasions, one of the things they’ve looked into is build dates just to clarify what features should be on my car because of the big change of spec on the DS4 range when they decided to stop production of the Performance Line DS4.
The Performance Line DS4 cannot be ordered as a new build anymore in the UK, so the Master Tech wanted to clarify what exactly should be the features on my car.
The build date on mine is Jan 2024, it comes with all the standard features of the Performance Plus, but also had extras like the comfort pack , electric tailgate and the other bits I previously mentioned.
However, the loan car I’m using at the moment has a build date of March 2024.
So it’s basically 2 months newer than mine, yet it’s missing a lot of the features compared to mine, no 360 camera, no auto tint door mirrors, no Matrix Led headlights, no blind spot warning light on the door mirrors when overtaking, no comfort pack, no electric tailgate , smaller alloys, same colour roof, no DS spot lights on the door mirrors.
But it does have the heads up display and phone charger, so its definitely a Performance Plus.
It seems to me that when DS, at least in the UK, decided to stop production of the DS4 Performance Line & Performance Line Plus, they changed what features were going to be on the last remaining builds, such as the loan car I’m currently driving.
Unfortunately it seems as though some customers were going to lose out on features depending on what build month their new car was going to be ?
I think this is why there are at least 2 editions of DS4 brochures for 2023/2024.
I’ll see if I can find the PDF of the 1st Edition brochure, the spec and options in that brochure are exactly right for my car.
When its compared to the 2nd Edition, the Performance Line models do seem to have features missing or changed to optional extras.

Really intriguing!
Car manufacturers tend to do the changes by model year or in accordance with a facelift.
This seems a little bit more random… As I got my car in March, or was it April!? Anyway, it should have been built around January also.
Then maybe we should see us as the fortunate few with cars built 2024 with 2023 years spec

I think so.
The sales guy definitely pushed this fact, that I was getting more spec than later models biult the same year.
it’s an odd one but I’ll take it all day long !
