I’ve been meaning to ask this question for a while, and it may of already been asked ?
So on my DS4 E Tense steering wheel theres two buttons, voice command and telephone.
If I press the telephone button the heads up display shows the latest calls made from my phone, which is fine if you want to call someone back who has recently called you.
However, its no good if you want to ring someone from your contact list, therefor I have tried pressing the voice command button and “asking” for telephone or contact list or phone ect but it keeps saying “telephone not supported by voice command”.
If I select phone from the media center I can see all my contacts but not when using voice command.
My ex Volvo which was over 10 years old had voice command that allowed access to everything, it even read out txt messages.
I find it pretty poor that voice command doesnt support your phone or am I doing something wrong ?
If you press the phone button on the steering wheel first, then press the metal silver toggle button, the one that brings up songs or radio stations on the HUD, it will bring up the a list of recent calls from you phone.
Tried today, same function with Android Auto with the hud.
Tried all possible commands that I could think off to open phone book without any success.
Then I asked Iris what “she” can control, dont remember what she answered but something like, radio, climate control and something more.. Not phone anyway.
So really odd.
I just tried again pressing the voice control button the steering wheel , I said “phone”, she said “Tell which number you want to call” , I threw out a random name from my contact list and it started to dial.
Up until now “she’s” been saying not supported.
Try selecting Iris in the media panel, when “she” asks for a command try saying phone, it may not work straight away, try this a couple of times.
At first “she” says not supported, but I found that it worked after about 5 tries, then after it works on the media icon try again on the steering wheel control, mine worked first time on the steering control after trying in the media panel.
I’ll try again in the morning to see if it works straight from the steering control.
Calling with Iris has always worked for me via voice command.
Calling via Iris - short press on MIC button, call via Android Auto - long press instead..
I thought you wanted to open the phone app in the media display?
I was trying to make a call by using the steering wheel voice command.
Initially when i pressed the steering wheel voice command and said phone it came back and said phone not supported on voice command .
Tried again this morning by just pressing voice command on the steering wheel and saying “phone”, it worked straight away.
So i dont why all of a sudden its started working because it used to say phone not supported ?
Might be a phrasing issue also? When I use it i dont say “Phone” ( in Swedish “Telefon”).
I say “Call” (Swedish “ring”) and then the desired contacts name.
When it didnt work I actually swore at her, the reply was something like " I feel your frustration".
Try it and see what she comes back with.
