Hi All,
Thanks for welcoming me! Just a quick one hoping someone can help.
Picked up my new DS4 ECross (22) 6 weeks ago. When i test drove tyre pressure warning light was on. Presumed would be fixed on collection. Drove it for 6 days came back on, circle forward to this week. Its been back to the garage 4 times no issues found just keeps coming back on every time i collect it approx 20 miles later… any ideas…?
Thanks in advance!
Ps for context 1 tyre was replaced prior to collecting, this was moved to rear of car after 2nd visit, 3rd visit checked no issues, 4th visit was also getting the 12v battery replaced as this had done the “fault electric mode not available thing” told me this might resolve TP issue…
As you can tell its going well…
Yeah the battery thing can throw up the tyre pressure warning.
My advice is to get your 12v batteries checked out, I’ve had countless issues with mine, the main one has been replaced 5 times and the smaller one twice, in just 18 months from new.
The smaller one is actually a serviceable part and requires changing on either year 3 or 4.
If your car is a 2022 it could be the battery is due to be replaced ?
But I would certainly get both checked out, preferably by a DS dealership.
I have a basic question. After checking and topping up the tire pressure, was a reset performed? This is crucial. Consult your owner’s manual.
Yeah, forgot to mention that bit.
Hey is this a reset in the infotainment system or a different type?
Battery was replaced this week. Light still came on!
Yep. Look at manual.
The main 12v battery or the smaller 12v battery ?
I have just the same issue - though no battery aspect to it…
Picked up my 2023 1.2 Puretech from Croxdale DS in January. I was told on collection that the TPMS might come on, but if i reset it a couple of times it should stay off. However it does keep coming back on, always after about 10 minutes of driving at motorway speed, and always showing all 4 tyres under-inflated.
It has been to my local dealer, Stellantis & You in Manchester twice now, most recently on Friday. Everything checked over and no issues identified, reset, but came back on driving home both times.
They are now pointing towards three tyres having been changed before i bought it - either that it has non-matching tyres on the front axle (1 Kormoran with 9 mm, 1 Continental with 3mm) - or that the tyres are non-OEM as DS have issued advice that non-validated tyres may generate false alerts.
Leaves me in a bit of a pickle, S&Y Manchester are saying nothing more they can do under the DS warranty, Croxdale have just said go to my nearest dealer and washed their hands of it. But i don’t feel I should have to spend money changing tyres.
It’d be useful to know if this advice re tyres sounds feasible, or otherwise any other fixes people have found? I suspect it would be an MOT fail if i can’t get sorted before then.
Don’t UK regulations prohibit this? This is grounds for a complaint.
Yep, 100%
I think it’s non matching tyres that is my problem. The garage replaced one tyre prior to me buying the car. They have agreed now to replace two more of the tyres to see if that makes a difference. I suspect that until they are all the same age it will continue to happen…
The age of the tires does not matter, what matters is the same diameter on one axle.
Forgive me cause I’m clueless about this stuff, but when you say diameter do you mean the tyres themselves?
I’m referring to tire height. If a tire from the same manufacturer has 8mm of tread on the left side and 3mm on the right, the total difference in tire height on one axle is 10mm. One wheel is spinning slower than the other, hence the tire pressure warning.
Thank you. That makes total sense.
At present I’m still on the original tyres since buying the car from new.
I did have a puncture which was repaired , so I reset the system afterwards and all is ok.
I’m surprised though a mix of tyres from different manufactures will cause this if you put the correct size tyre on.
On my previous car a Volvo, which I owned for 9 years so each tyre would have been made by a different manufacturer at some point, but I never had issues with that .
But then again we are talking about a DS here so nothing surprises me.
Even new tires from different manufacturers in the same size (mine is 205/55R19) differ slightly in dimensions. Secondly, different tires on the same axle are asking for trouble.
In winter I use Continental (not factory), in summer e-Primacy (factory) but all 4 are the same.
Are you talking about size or brand ?
In reality theres no way of getting around the fact that a new tyre no matter what brand will be different diameter to the current used tyre on the opposite side.
This is only possible if you change both tyres on the same axle at the same time.
Even if you stick to the same brand, say Michelin it will be different diameter to the used Michelin on the opposite side.
Surely there would need to be a noticeable difference in diameter between the two tyres on the same axle for the tyre pressure warning to activate.
I’ve never had an issue replacing just the one tyre from a different brand to the opposite used tyre, as long as the tyre pressure warning system is reset each time.
Same size, different manufacturer = difference in dimensions. I’ve tested new tires from different manufacturers this way.
I’ve never used different manufacturers on the same axle, as it’s illegal in my area.
I’ve never replaced just one tire on an axle if the tires had more than 8,000 miles on them. In those cases, I always replaced both tires.
If I install a set of four new tires, I try to monitor their condition, and if the front tires are worn out, I rotate them with the rear tires. This way, they all wear evenly.
I do all this for my own safety. For me, there is no other way.
In the fall of 2025 (at 32k km) my factory E-Primacy tires ran out and I am now putting on a set of new ones.
