new here. so i am planning on buying a used ds7 in the UK that is 2020 with under 20k miles. so there is no more warranty but dealer is offering 3 years warranty from them.
Do you guys recommend getting it? The price is ok like 600gbp for 3 years but the issue is that their dealer network has all car brands except DS. The dealer is Vertu. They have a Citroën dealer close to me but i heard only DS dealers can fix DS cars - so i am not sure if i trust the salesperson if this warranty can be used at all?
First thing, it’s a DS so definitely get a warranty package.
My DS4 has already gone through four main 12v batteries, one 12v auxiliary battery, new set of keys, two central locking receivers, a new module of some sort and a new bonnet badge (original started peeling).
Not bad for a car that’s just 10 months old.
God knows what this would of cost if there was no warranty in place, the bonnet badge alone was £115 !
Unbelievably, even with all that work done, DS are still looking for a permanent fix, as they cannot seem to find out why some of the things are still happening.
Not saying yours will be the same but it’s a wise move to have a warranty.
Can you contact the Citroën service department near you to see if they carry out warranty work on a DS ?
Oh interesting- I would expect 12v battery to be considered wear and tear? You think it had such issue because of start and stop maybe?
The car I am looking at is phev. Yea I think it’s good advise to get warranty for peace of mind especially with the hybrid drivetrain.
How’s your experience in ds making warranty repairs - are they good and fast to get things fixed?
My car has had an ongoing issue and warranty claim for 10 months.
I bought the car new, took it back the very next day because the keyless entry and welcome lights didnt operate vas the manual suggested.
10 months later and many many visits to the dealership, to have countless “fixes” and the issue is still present.
DS Technical even sent a technician over from France, but still no joy.
If you look at the many posts regarding the DS they seem to be related to battery issues or features not working as they should which seems to route back to battery issues.
DS Technical and the service department agree somethings not right but they also admit they have no idea how to solve it.
They’ve even offered a cash “Goodwill Gesture” because of the hassle.
Personally, and this is based on my own experiences, this is my first and absolutely my last DS ever.
Even without the issues, a car that cost almost £46000 is now only worth around £25000 after just 10 months.
oh yes. I was looking through the forum and saw you mentioned this several places lol now.
that’s why the depreciation is so crazy for DS . the one i am looking at is opera trim and is going for around 20k. was 56k msrp 5 years ago.
yea i am definitely getting the warranty for 600gbp. the dealer said it covers any warranty work done by DS directly as well if their network can’t fix it - which sounds too good to be true but so will have to check the contract.
regarding your ds4. i checked it says there are around 4000 DS4 sold in the UK. wonder what’s the percentage of people that are having issues.
I have a ds7 2018 only 29000 miles on clock in last 4 months new rear suspension arms and one on the front
New clock spring has air bag light was on all the time
Now wants a turbo money money keep well clear
Please buy my DS7 2023 Opera! That’s if I ever get it back from the dealer. On 6th July the rear end collapsed and I skidded to a halt on the fast lane on N Circular and had to be rscued from the central reservation by the police. Had it happened 20 minutes earlier on the M40 I might not be here to tell the tale.
The dealer have just told they are waiting on parts from Russia and have no idea when they will arrive! After the war perhaps?
I had taken it in 9 days earlier as it was pulling to one side. They just said I needed wheel alignment. It’s also hard to prove if the rear axle recall work was actually carried out or not.
To add insult to injury they want £520 for a service while we wait.
Definitely take an additional three year warranty.
My DS 7 was out of manufacturers warranty by two weeks and I needed a new engine due to a failed turbo!
The cost of the engine was £11,300!
My warranty covered the first £5,000,DS covered 90% of the balance and I had to pay 10% of the remaining balance.
Overall, not a great advert for DS Automobiles.
