Hi all looking for some info, i have put the latest update onto a usb stick now how do i instal onto the car thank you.
If you have a DS7, you just put the stick into the USB slot in the car and it will notice automatically that there’s an update on it. Just follow instructions on the screen.
I assume it’s something similar on the other models, given that updating by USB stick is an option.
Hi Jay thanks for that i have tried putting usb in but nothing is showing on screen to say connected
Hm. It’s kinda difficult to know what might be wrong.
I assume you used the DS Update software on your computer to create the stick?
Also, have you tried putting the stick into the car before starting the car?
I don’t remember if that’s necessary, but could be.
I have the DS4 E Tense and it does updates by itself !
I thought all the DS models were the same in regards to updates ?
Mine actually did one two days ago, it usually tells you if theres an update available when you pull up, it gives a choice of doing it there and then or delay it, if you chose to delay it you have another 4 notifications to carry out the update, after that it has to be done at a dealership.
I will have to try putting in before i start car thanks
I wanted to add something I recalled a bit later after the last post.
I had some issues too last time I wanted to do an update, and I didn’t get it to work until I changed USB stick for the 3rd time.
The first two sticks was some cheap a** noname sticks that caused issues. I then went and bought a well-known brand stick and it worked as a charm.
So could be your stick that’s at fault as well.
Just wanted to mention that.
The one i have is a good brand and i have used.it before the only trouble at the minute is i am not at home
Can I ask, why are you doing this manually ?
The car should be doing OTA updates automatically for you .
My car is 2018 model i don’t think it was automatically in them days
Only very recent models have over-the-air updates.
You really think we’d bother with usb sticks if we didn’t have to?
@DSJay.
Hence the reason for asking a simple question, that only required a simple explanation !!
@Joalco.
Thank you for explaining.
I’m new to DS so I wasn’t aware that older models did not have the OTA facility.
I recently sold a 2016 Volvo that had OTA updates, I thought it was a fairly standard thing.
No, it wasn’t a simple question from you.
You claimed it should do that automatically, when obviously (by the nature of the topic) it doesn’t.
Yeah, it’s so clearly obviously that I should have know from the nature of the topic that this was all about older cars .
If you look at my very first post on this topic I did actually say :
"I have the DS4 E Tense and it does updates by itself !
"I thought all the DS models were the same in regards to updates ?"
Being new to the DS marque, the key word in my post on this topic is , “Thought” !!
But as mentioned, a simple courteous reply explaining that the topic was intended for older models would have been sufficient.
But it’s ok, Joalco gave a clear simple explanation, which is exactly what old and especially new members need.
I’ll not comment any longer in this thread, as it’s clearly not being helpful to me or anyone else.
Joalco, I hope you get it sorted out .
