USB Port

So I’m a bit old school and tend to stick to things that I can manage.

Therefore I still use a USB stick to add music onto and use in the car.

Lately the USB C port has started to work intermittently.

It has worked fine without any issue for the last 12 months, however over the last day or two when I switch from the radio to the USB port the car isnt seeing the USB stick ?
If I pull the stick out and re-insert it , it will work for a very short time, then a message pops up say “Waiting For Connection”.
My son seems to think it might be the USB C adaptor not the actual port.
But I’ve tried a new adaptor and its the same.
If the adaptors are causing the issue , why now after 12 months ?
I’m going get a new USB C stick that wont require an adaptor and will just plug straight in, but I was wondering if anyone else has had issue.

Also, is there just the one USB C port to use for listening to music in the DS4 ?
I can see 2 extra ports in the rear of the car but I think they are to supply power not for listening to music.

First, try a new USB-C stick, as it’s probably the cheapest option for diagnose the problem.

Yeah my son suggested the same thing so I’ve just sent for a stand alone USB C from Amazon.
At the moment I’m using an older “original” USB plugged into a USB C adaptor which has been working fine for over 12 months, but 2 days ago it stopped working.
I tried another USB C adaptor which was new but that was the same .

I’ve ordered a USB C that wont require an adaptor.

The odd thing I noticed was the adaptor and USB stick are getting very hot, but the port doesnt seem to be ?

I do it with a 90-degree angle adapter because it is flat and then it is harder to damage the USB port.

Thats what I’ve been using.
I had a new spare adaptor but it was the same with that.
Thats why I’ve a suspicion its the actual port or something to do with the car.
Or possibly the USB stick itself.

Odd though why the USB and adaptor are getting noticeably hot to the touch and its been fine for over a year ?

I have to check this out.

The port itself seems ok to the touch, its the USB & adaptor that seem overly hot to the touch .
At first I thought the adaptor had gone faulty so I swapped it over to a new identical one, but within a minute it had stopped working and seemed to be getting hot .
But its hard to tell if its the adaptor thats getting hot or the USB because its a micro USB plugged into the adaptor.

Even with the radio running and not using the USB it still seems to be getting hot ?
I dont remove the USB or adaptor when not in use so I dont think its wear & tear on the connection.

Mine too, but it works ok. Checked.

New stick seems to have solved the problem :+1:

Glad you have sorted it. I know I’m late to the party, but I use these, can hardly see them, eBay item number:227311768182

I had a 90 degree angled adapter with a micro usb inserted which worked fine for ages, but then it just failed without warning,
I think its the micro usb that faile not the adapter because its not working on my pc either.
At the moment I’m using a standard usb which is working fine but it is sticking up a bit high and might get damaged by putting stuff in the compartment, so I’ll probably buy a new small usb soon.
