Please can someone explain how to get the exterior welcome lights to function correctly.
Apparently even after selecting this feature in the cars menu it still needs to be set by using the cars key fob remote control.
After hours of trying to get this feature to work I’ve come to the conclusion that it only operates if the car is dead locked, if its locked by just one press of the remote it does not work.
I’ve also concluded that if you dead lock the car to get your fancy lights to greet you the next time you approach the car , you cant then open the electric tailgate handsfree by waving your foot under the bumper.
So its one feature or the other, you cant have both on a £46000 car that had these options fitted ???
Also can only get the fancy DS mirror spot lights (the light that shines down onto the floor showing the DS motif) working if you deadlock the car but then open it on the remote, it dont work by approaching the car only.
So frustrating., and absolutely pointless paying for extras if cant use them at the same time.
Unless of course, i’ve wasted all afternoon trying to get them working and I’m doing something wrong ??
It really shouldn’t be that difficult! As long as they’re enabled, those welcome and goodbye features should work with the ‘normal’ lock.
Assuming you have keyless entry/start, when you walk away from the car, it should lock automatically. When it’s sufficiently dark outside, the goodbye lights are presented for the set duration (using the cogwheel next to the designated setting in the infotainment screen).
The other way around though, you can trigger the welcome lights by unlocking the car from a distance. Darkness is not relevant for this feature. (The side mirror projected logos are though) Another way to trigger the welcome lights is to approach the car, the daylight LEDs will turn on within a few meters, the full headlights upon unlocking of the door.
If any of this isn’t working for you then something might be wrong. Maybe the set durations of the functions, or even the daylight sensors (are the headlights set to auto?) or the keyless entry.
Not sure if you’ve had an OTA update already but those certainly have the power to fix all these issues. The car is one big computer nowadays…
The car has keyless entry.
Everything is enabled and the lights set to auto on the stalk.
So the goodbye lights only work at night ?
Do the welcome lights come on automatically as you approach the car or do they need to be activated by opening with the remote ?
My thoughts were this.
With everything set as auto, the welcome lights come on as you approach the car (day or night) ( these being the day time running lights & the fancy head light dance feature) as you approach and the car unlocks when you get a bit closer to the doors.
On leaving , the car locks as you walk away and the see you home lights come on (the se being the day time running lights),
