So I’m looking for the USB port .
I can find 3 ports, 1 in the front of the center compartment, and 2 on the rear air vents, but none of these are the standard type USB ?
Am I missing something ?
Are there standard USB ports on the car or do I use a different type of USB or adaptor ?
I’m guessing it might be a USB C adaptor to use a standard USB stick ?
The media manual say that music can be streamed via a phone, bluetooth or USB.
Any advice appreciated.
Yeah Jay I think you’re correct.
I need either a USB-C stick or an adaptor.
In my last car there was a physical hard drive to store music but not on the DS4, so I want to put music onto a stick and use it from there.
I could use my phone to stream I guess but for me (old school), I think it might be easier to just store some albums onto the stick.
I’m not sure though how to have different artists stored on the stick so that I can select them individually ?
In the old car it gave options to store files alphabetically or by music type, it was a really good user friendly system.
I can appreciate the frustration with losing technology you’re used to, but I think the harder you fight progression the more you’ll suffer.
I recommend that you explore the phone options because it will get harder and harder to keep up your hard-drive library with modern day technology.
And you’ll miss out on great features you get by using your phone instead.
I guess Jactac is referring to a Volvo as his former car? Dead easy to use but a bit less sophisticated system
USB-C is the only way to go in the DS4, maybe a small external hard drive with USB-C could be an option?
Does anyone know I’d the DS can handle “flac” files? That would be really nice, Bluetooth and Spotify is kinda limited when it comes to sound quality due to the compression.
You’re right Jay.
My son gets very frustrated when I try to use old school tech or ask a question and keep referring back to something that was, in my mind far simpler to use but not now available, like an onboard hard drive.
No android auto on your car? You can play local files from your phone then and even work with custom playlists. Poweramp is a nice app for it. It works very good.
@Jactac I guess you got your music on a USB stick sorted - I’m probably of the same generation where that is also my preferred option. It wasn’t immediately obvious to me how to navigate through the albums/artists - but after plugging in my music USB stick an additional menu item “Library” appears in the Music Player and that is where you can navigate to the different albums/artists and then play.
I have some of the same mp3 files duplicated on my phone, and could already play from phoen when connected via Bluetooth or wireless Andriod Auto - but on first listening the sound quality from the USB stick seems better. I need to listen a bit more carefully before I am convinced there is a real difference, or just my inherent bias.
I’ve sort of got used to it.
Playing from the library is better.
As for the quality of the sound, it’s not the best.
I was under impression when I bought the car that the Performance Line model with the Drivers Comfort pack had an upgraded sound system but I dont think that is the case.
